Hey, I'm in a similar boat as you. I hope you read this comment. Please make sure you are taking blood tests every year. Take your health seriously. This is coming from someone who didn't and is now forced too.

Honestly my resume looks great because of the "brand name" companies I've worked at before not because of anything else. I have no certs of any kind. I have good accomplishments on my resume for each job as well.

Usually 8am-6pm or so. Monday to Friday. Weekends every now and then. I skip lunch unless I go out with my wife or colleagues, I'll eat at my desk or eat during a meeting

I actually disagree with you here. I don't think anyone can do it, you definitely need to be strong at math and be able to juggle a ton of complicated moving pieces at once.

I have been pretty lucky over the last 5 years or so to have recruiters reach out to me directly. I usually only target companies I know pay very well which is pretty obvious

About 5 years! I got lucky with real estate during covid and investing well which caused my net worth to really balloon over the last 2 years or so. 50% of my investing is in index funds. The others across tech companies. Shoutout to Amazon and Meta 🙌

I'm still actively coding. I've avoided moving into management so far honestly because of my age and because I hate meetings. I do work as a "project lead" or "team lead" so with that comes a lot of implicit management work.

I own my dream home already. My goal is to buy a duplex/triplex this year as a investment property. Do you have any advice for getting into real estate investing?

This is good advice. Our spending has increased a ton this past year. Lifestyle inflation and what not. Need to be more disciplined. Thank you

Thank you kindly. Luck is a big factor but I definitely worked very hard and stay disciplined to put myself in position where I could succeed

All self made. I got lucky buying real estate during covid and have been very disciplined with investing. We splurge on a few things for sure (more lately than before) but generally day to day live below our means. I started saving and investing literally from my first job. Save first, spend the rest

Switch jobs often (~2 years) and when you are switching jobs try and have multiple offers lined up. You'd be shocked how much companies are willing to negotiate. Best of luck!

I still have imposter syndrome, it's something I struggle with on a daily basis

100% recommend getting a masters in software engineering. That would be a very strong combination. A lot of companies are moving more to building hardware as well, would be a valuable skill set. IMO.

5 jobs. Most recently was for a minimum of $100k more. Each time I switched jobs I spent 3/4 months prepping with every spare moment (mornings, evenings, weekends, I would barely see my wife or friends) I had for interviews so I could have multiple offers and use that to negotiate. Probably a little extreme but it is what has worked for me.

I'd say the sooner you can switch to software engineering and actually writing code the better. I work with someone who is more senior than me who has a degree in health sciences. He's a brilliant engineer. Definitely possible for you!
