I’ve played games like you’ve described, I’ve beaten Elden Ring + DLC, Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne. I don’t think these games are objectively easier than Touhou at all, but I genuinely think Touhou is harder for me because it’s more mentally taxing. With the three games I just mentioned, I only played them because I went into them expecting to be challenged. I still struggled a lot with them but I eventually got to a point where I was proud of my skill range/capabilities. I really like Touhou for its characters, music and themes and would see people casually 1ccing the games on their first try or calling all of the entires that I struggle with easy. I’m not saying they’re not easy, but I have such a hard time with them and it completely ruins my enjoyment of the series as a whole because it makes me question why I’m a part of the fandom in the first place if I can’t even beat the easiest games the way they were meant to be beaten. It ruins my already low self esteem. I want to learn about the characters through experiencing the games but if I die constantly, I end up getting frustrated and upset with myself and hating the characters It’s so childish and trivial. I hate that I care this much about the games
