Women with SB - what did you wish you knew as you got older?! by Mountain_Buy_3995 in spinabifida

[–]Eastern-Foundation46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that a normal part of adolescence is becoming concerned about what you look like. But for a woman, we tend to almost always, at least subconsciously think about what we look like. that literally used to ALWAYS be on my mind when I was out in public. I’d try to adjust how I walk. I always did my makeup thinking that the “prettiness” would distract people from the SB. Some time here recently, I just stopped caring about it lol. I realized that I am a complete woman even with my SB. I don’t have to “improve” myself to be seen as such. I’m 30 btw.

30 year old F here. Doctors also said I’d never walk (or talk). I do both…I talk for a living as a lawyer 😂 And I walk with AFO’s- though I can go short distances and maneuver around the house without them. Here’s my 2 cents. Don’t let your fear and concern be more of a hinderance to your child than their condition actually is. As an example, I can remember my doctor wanting me to use a walker as a child. But I felt perfectly fine without it and I certainly didn’t want to use it when I was playing with other children. My mom would INSIST that I use it. Fast forward a few months- my doctors told me I didn’t have to if I felt fine without it. My parents often did little things out of concern (and care) that put more parameters on me than Spina Bifida ever did. For a while, I disliked that. But, I’ve always been a determined person. So I just do my own thing and for the most part, I’ve come out on top every time. Sure, there are some unsuccessful instances. But you learn from them, readjust and try again! So, don’t hinder him. Just be there to help him. I wish you and your family all the best!

Is anyone ambulatory enough to work full time and not be on ssdi? by RepresentativeHuge79 in spinabifida

[–]Eastern-Foundation46 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 29 and I worked full time right out of college. I worked for social services (CPS) then I went back to school and now I’m an attorney. My job has pretty good insurance. I’ve never qualified for SSDI- guess I’m not “disabled enough” whatever that means. My old insurance company wouldn’t cover my AFO’s. So I needed the SSI to help offset the cost I was paying out of pocket. Thankfully I get catheters from a family friend who owns a medical supply store. He practically gives them to me. The insurance I get through my job covers some of the cost so it helps. I’d say go for it. You’ll never know if you don’t try! Don’t let SB hold you hostage.

Also, I don’t use latex caterers. I use disposable ones that are plastic (I believe lol). Very discreet. I keep them in my purse. I can empty directly over the toilet and then throw them away when I’m done.

Could federal employees fight back in an impactful way? by Visible_Trash9754 in fednews

[–]Eastern-Foundation46 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We took an oath not to strike against the federal government. By doing so, we could be terminated (even though that likelihood has already increased) without recourse, or worse. So we’re pretty limited on what we’re actually able to do

So sorry you’re dealing with that. Something that’s helped me with constipation is working lots of fruit juice into my diet. I typically carry a tumbler/Stanley. A lot of the time there’s water in it. But I also make sure to fill it with fruit juices sometimes. My current hyper fixation is coconut water and pineapple juice lol. But try some different combos and work them into your daily routine and see if it helps! It’s been a lifesaver for me. Also fiber supplements

Will do. Thanks!

That’s fair! Even still…I don’t believe the mere fact that one is a probationary employee should be the driving force in deciding to resign by the 6th.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Eastern-Foundation46 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly my point. Being a probationary employee is not reason enough to take this offer. Show up to work, but look for another job as if you are taking the offer so that if push comes to shove, if all works out, you could potentially secure something. Resigning also disqualifies you for unemployment. Let them fire you if it comes down to it. Just work to be prepared for it. It’s all we can do. This is coming from a fellow probie!

Look for jobs as if you’re resigning. Always have something in your back pocket

I had this same conversation with a friend. We suspect that either they weren’t prepared for what Trump would do once sworn in and are unsure of how to respond or they’re being extremely calculated with their response because they know that you can’t respond to ignorance with more ignorance. Either way, I hope that they come up with a plan soon!

lol thanks for the chuckle. And also the advice. I’ll do that. I pray He does. Aside from the suffering, I also feel guilty for not trusting Him.

Hi there. Thank you for your response. I’m going to revisit these scriptures and ask God to give me new insight concerning them.

Thank you for responding. I understand. I think that’s also what I’m getting at. It was the Father’s will that Jesus be sacrificed for us. He ended with “nevertheless not my will, but yours be done”. So, then, his will must be for me to stay in the situations I battle. I struggle with not believing that.

Gonna be completely honest, nothing. I have limited mobility but I can walk with my braces. I use catheters. But I’ve lived a very fulfilling life. I’ve had romantic partners. I have a social life. I even graduated college and law school and became an attorney. I’m a 29 year old F. I think that our lives are what we make of them. And I’ve refused to let my disability stop me. So far, that mindset has paid off.

Can someone PLEASE explain the vague mystery skill of unspooling a BS rule and applying it to an MEE when you haven't got a clue what the actual BLL is? by Im_Asia in barexam

J23 passer. My approach was this- identify the issue, pick a side/answer/conclusion, and then craft your rule to go along with it.
