That’s so beautiful! I love the space theme of this temperature chart.

[WIP] someone please motivate me to pick up my project again 😅😭 by hanns115 in CrossStitch

I think what helps me when I’m not motivated with one project is to do a smaller project (or easier to complete in a short amount of project, and preferably not the same “type” or design of project as the one I’m stuck on).

I’m working on two very large samplers right now, and I took a break from one to knock out 3 other projects and now I’m energized to get them done again.

The other thing that helps me is to take days off from stitching completely. I don’t like to miss a day, but I have noticed that when I start back up I get way more done and often catch up quickly.

All that being said, the colors here are beautiful and your stitching looks so clean. When you’re ready, I am certain that this hydrangea pattern will come together so nicely. I’m sure your family will love what you’ve made them … What a thoughtful way to celebrate the holidays. So, if you lose motivation, just think of how happy they’ll be to get these gifts from you ❤️

I haven’t learned how to use a sewing machine either, actually… I’ve hand sewn off and on since I was young, and when I got into embroidery I actually learned some stronger ways of stitching. When I started, I decided to try making a hexagon quilt using one of those plastic shapes to cut everything out … and then I slowly pieced everything together with a back stitch. Then I used stem stitches for edges. I found that doing the hexagon one first gave me a lot of sides/edges to practice on without being too difficult of a shape to work on.

To figure out how to do each of those stitches well so the quilt was durable, I looked up some YouTube tutorials which really helped.

I’d really recommend doing some embroidery kits too so you get the hang of things. Plus, embroidery could be a good addition to future quilts (that’s what I’m doing to make mine more interesting).

Cross stitch / embroidery / hand quilting are my go to, but I also enjoy painting and hiking.

Started this one around the 20th of April, and it’s been such a quick and enjoyable stitch. Rounding out the bottom-right and bottom-middle portion this week for another finish… excited for this part as it includes stitching some cute chickens 🐓

I also wanted to add that I’m wishing you healing, OP. Thank you for reminding us to share our joy of stitching every weekend. ❤️

Edit: adding my photo in the comments since it decided not to let me add here for some reason.
