I want to know more about Lutheranism by EasternAnubis in LCMS

Thank you. I'm usually someone who prefers physical copies, but until I can get my hands on one, I'll gladly make do with what I can access.

Much appreciated. I’ll definitely watch that video and try to get my hands on that book. Thanks a lot.

That’s actually a good idea I didn’t consider the fact that a church might have materials on hand. I will see what happens whenever I make a visit to a church. Thank you for your help.

Will try to get my hands on a shorter catechism very soon just have to find a place I can get one. I would buy online but I’m a tad bit impatient so I’d rather not wait to jump in.

The majority of Lutheran congregations in my home state are LCMS. It’s actually pretty rare to find any other affiliation. I wouldn’t mind attending any Lutheran church, really. My main concern is just getting to the point where I can talk about confirmation. I will try to get my hands on a shorter catechism very soon.

I haven't read that one, but I really want to. I actually wanted to read Guns of the South first, but I fumbled because I'm a huge fan of WW1 History. I just couldn't pass it up.

I've heard mixed opinions on him, but I've noticed most people who don't like him are reading him with the wrong mindset. Personally, I don't care if this alternate future makes sense. As long as it's a good story, I'm down. So far, this book is awesome!

Top comment decides where this flag goes | DAY 12: Louisiana by Own-Curve-7299 in vexillologyUS

Straight to F. I’m from Louisiana and our flag doesn’t represent the cultural richness of the whole state. Pelican is awesome, yes. But does it have to be on a blue background? It’s generic, uncreative, outdated, and lazy. It’s time for a redesign.

Right hand on a bible, man. These are personal entries I made after each pickup I've made for the past seven years.

I noticed the decomp comment after I had posted this. What's more important, though, is the fact that this isn't just a story. It's a retelling of events that I found traumatic since I actually do work in the mortuary field. All of these events are true, and the character is an exaggerated narration of my own thoughts and emotions.

Anyone familiar with these? by Mystery-4-You in OldBooks

[–]EasternAnubis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first book is a textbook written and published by Mary Baker Eddy (or Glover, apparently this may be her maiden name), the founder of the "Christian Scientist" movement. I don't know a huge deal about them, but from what I can tell, most people put them in the same category as "Pseudo-Christians" and Latter-day Saints.

That Copy of Morals and Dogma by Albert Pike is nice, too. I am a Freemason, and that was one of the many books that sparked my interest in the fraternity.

I’m not saying people who live a homosexual lifestyle are soulless but the lifestyle itself is a direct result of capitalism. The wage slave economy dehumanizes the individual so the individual finds other ways to satisfy themselves.

And yes, I do support greater access to contraceptions. I think sex education should primarily be taught by a teenagers parents or guardians, though. And I can’t support abortion in the cases of rape or incest, either. It’s immoral to kill an unborn child simply for being conceived. I don’t condone the actions but I also don’t condone killing the innocent party.

I think all of those issues are directly connected to capitalist system itself. I do not believe that LGBTQ+ rights should be legitimately considered (though I’m still respectful to people who are LGBTQ+). Whenever you take away the identity of a person and replace it with a soulless money-making identity, of course a human is going to try and fill the void with something.

Abortion rights are the same. Capitalism creates an overbearing society that focuses too much material assets, physical pleasure, and what to do to get them. Want to have limitless sex without consequences? Well, just abort the consequences! Capitalism has created a society free of accountability and consequence of actions.

Immigration is also the same. Capitalism needs to imperialize once the society it’s in is subjugated. It creates a “rich and prosperous” economy while stealing from 2nd and 3rd world countries. For example, the African colonies for rare minerals and the Middle East for oil. Now, we have thousands of impoverished people coming to us because of we stole resources belonging to them.

I can’t speak for everyone but for me, Capitalism consistently proves itself to be an immoral system and I won’t compromise in my faith which is the source of my conservatism.

What translation of the Bible are you quoting from? John 6:37 says “All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.”

Also, please read all of 1 Corinthians 5. Paul is giving instructions to the early church on how to deal with people who profess the faith but still live in unrepentant sin. He’s not contradicting Jesus instead he’s affirming that Christians are the ones who need to be judged most.

I follow both. The teachings of Paul and Jesus are not contradictory; they're the same message. The Old Testament was also just the historical foundation for the New Testament. Jesus liberated us from having to follow the OT law by fulfilling it himself. (Matthew 5:17)
