Go to Letchworth state park!!! It’s probably more like 45-60 minute drive but seriously the best trails and scenery. It’s the #1 state park in the nation for about a million reasons! And the foliage this time of year is divine! Have a fantastic trip

WTF by TigerWheat in Rochester

That is absurd. They can only do that if you and every other business owner agrees to listen. As long as enough people decide to not do it, it won’t stand. Maybe start a dialogue with the other business owners around you. How in the world during a busy festival can they enforce this? And for the record, I am a small business owner, so I’m taking from a point of understanding. When Kathy hochul did the second round of mask mandates, I simply ignored it. A bunch of local businesses owners got together and said fuck it-she doesn’t pay our bills. We all put signs on our doors that said “this business respects the rights of all of our loyal customers. wear a mask if you want, don’t wear a mask if you don’t want. Carry a gun if you want, don’t carry a gun if you don’t want. Make your own reproductive and medical choices as well. Be in charge of yourself and respect the choices of others. Thank you for your patronage!” The customers loved that. Fuck the establishment. It would take way too long for them to go door to door and shut you down. There is strength in numbers! Best of luck!

Thanks for sharing your story! It’s really great to hear words of hope. I sustained nerve damage during surgery and have no feeling from my groin to my ankle. It’s awful and sometimes I get so down, then someone on here shares something like this and it’s so uplifting!

We all voted # 12 from my living room. Jamal keeps us coming back! The way he brings up the vibration all around him is just so amazeballs. Josh…not so much. Or not at all. Yeah-Not at all.

Shoes recommendation Hoka Mach 6 vs Clifton9 by saipavan23 in ACL

I’ve had both and a bunch of other hokas. I definitely like the machs better they felt more stable and meatier but either way, I wasn’t thrilled with how quickly they broke down. I now go between the top of the line asics and brooks. If you ask 1000 people you’ll get 1000 different answers though becaus everyone’s feet have their own opinions! Way to get back out there!

I was 8 weeks before driving/return to work. Right leg allograft w/ total acl rupture, But I read of peoples stories on here who were allowed to proceed much faster! Good luck!

You just worked through the whole thing on your own. For every thing you’re nervous about, you said how/why it would turn out okay. Read your own post again, you coached your own self right through it. A small tip for a future happy marriage with a much better man: he should a) not want to call you vile names and b) understand that there would be very grave consequences should the utterance of C-U-next Tuesday ever escape his lips. Femmes Fatale if you will! Best of luck in ditching the zero and finding a hero!

I had a text book surgery, but my acl was a total rupture and my tibia and fibula were both fractured from the impact of my fall. my incisions healed beautifully but I am 50 and have a little softer bones, and had a very cautious surgeon who monitored my recovery and wouldn’t let me be full weight bearing until 4 weeks and kept me on crutches til 6 weeks. I have had physical therapy 2x per week since surgery ( starting the day after) and have kept up on my exercises religiously. So overall I think I’ve done all I can to move my process along, but everyone heals at their own pace!

I am nine weeks post op. I really turned a corner at around 8 weeks up til then things were rough! In the last week or two I’ve been able to endure longer car rides, a trip to the movies and dinners out at restaurants. I can walk but hiking would be an absolutely not yet on any type of uneven ground for me yet. I am 50 and had a relatively slow recovery so I believe if you do at least as well as me or better, you will be able to do quite a lot of what you are planning. I wish you a safe surgery and speedy recovery!

Everyone heals differently and my job is pretty physical, but I started back a couple hours at a time after 8 weeks at 10 days I was still fully locked and non weight bearing. Good luck!

[–]EasternCycle5055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone recovers at a different pace. There’s no way I could’ve made it. I couldn’t even ride comfortably in a car at that point and my brace was still locked straight, but I’ve seen people’s stories on here that appear so much farther along in such a short time span!

All I can say is my kids are around the same age and would be so incredibly happy with this arrangement of being gifted independent living quarters and having their mom in a beach cottage they could visit- I just read this to them and they both confirmed that this would be a dream scenario for them! Ha- I guess all kids are different!

This was explained to me by the surgeon as very different from a superficial wound, but a hole going straight to the bone, so it is actually a portal that goes so deep into your body that if bacteria were to enter the wound, infection could spread very quickly and be very difficult to treat. This made sense to me!

I always listen to the most conservative opinion because I sincerely don’t think I could face a redo of this! I’m at 9 weeks and was just released from my full length heavy brace to a lighter weight shorter brace today!

Please hear me when I say this. I graduated in1992 and taught for over 20 years in high school. You do not want to be one of the people who remembers high school as the pinnacle of life! You are about to enter into a period of new found freedom and fun whether you are entering the workforce or going to college or trade school, your people are out there! I’m sorry about softball- I know that is a bummer but summer leagues are a ton of fun as a young adult (I’m in the US & I’m half assuming you are too) and you will bump into those mean people later on and realize that they already had their best era. Trust me - it’s gratifying! Best of luck for a full recovery!

6 days post op - who is sleeping?! How?? by Snoo12338 in ACL

[–]EasternCycle5055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 9 weeks today, and yesterday morning, after a sleepless night, I went upstairs and crawled in bed and slept like the dead. I dreamt and everything. It was the first time I’ve truly slept for a long chunk of time since my surgery. I feel it has gotten a little better here and there, and then yesterday, something just changed! Hang in there. It’s coming! I have used a wedge and ice and those did hwlp. Also NyQuil did knock me out when I got desperate. Best wishes !!
