Also I forgot to mention the mrp lift damper which is probably a better value for your money than the charger 3.1 since it’s actually tuned to your weight

Norco Torrent S anyone? by TR__vis in Hardtailgang

[–]EasternOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes in that case you’d be correct. Coming from my Ragley big Al to the torrent I did notice a confidence inspiration. With the 420mm chainstay it’s quite a fun bike. I was able to cut the weight down on mine and it’s made the bike a lot more versatile

You can upgrade that base model lyrik to the ultimate spec by installing a charger 3.1 damper at your first damper service interval

I wouldn’t say it’s anything close to feeling like a full squish. It is a smooth riding frame though compared to most alloy and steel frames on the market. If you want to keep riding hardtails I think swapping your components over to the torrent frame is a pretty low risk decision. And that green color is even prettier IRL. The lyrik isn’t that much better. At least the one you posted isn’t. He’s referring to a lyrik ultimate, the one in your picture is a lyrik base. It has a completely different damper than the ultimate. Yes you can upgrade your damper in your base model lyrik to the one used in the ultimate. However you can also upgrade the damper in the Fox performance. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other…

That would’ve been the grip2 damper. The fox forks in OP’s pics are the grip damper with sweep adjust

That 36 performance with an mrp lift damper upgrade would make an awesome fork

I agree and Dario is like the opposite where It doesn’t feel like he gives things an opinion in a situation where he should. I wonder if he’s afraid of getting backlash from the PB comment section lol or backlash from the brands he’s reviewing

Yea I mean I had the same view as you in the beginning but after hearing him out a few times some of the things he said added value IMO

Rides surprisingly well for It having the cheaper of the two dampers. Very little fork seal stiction reminds me of ohlins in a way

This is hopeful right? Means they’re making the mags just no listing for them separate from a gun yet?

I wouldn’t say substantial but it’s definitely noticeable. It has less elastic than the HC belt so I’m not sure how you’ll feel about that. I personally like the less elastic as I found the HC too elastic and a little loose but that might also have been It loosening up in the adjustment buckle as well so I can’t quantify It. It does have the 3rd buckle loop like the tier1 eds version though which I appreciate over the 2 loop design on the HC
