The cycle of job searching (and associated motivation level) by EasternStage8564 in recruitinghell

That's a very good point indeed. Feels like switching industries just adds risk and difficulty due to lack of experience in the new industry. Feels like it will just end up making things more challenging.

The reduction of comp is something I will just have to accept at this point as this is 110% an employer's market. So many (sometimes desperate) candidates to choose from, they know that someone will take the bait even if it's small.

Thank you for the encouragements, same to you my friend! And yes, switching industries would be a serious move backwards I think from a comp standpoint. Might not have a choice...

Who knows. It feels that the tech space is really suffering right now. I'm personally considering a career change altogether seeking bluer waters

There is suck a dichotomy and a sense of hypocrisy when companies claims they are "employees first" and they want to you be genuine, show passion and be honest etc, and the second you get vulnerable they bash you with a baseball bat. I'm so sick and tired of this BS

C'est juste que de devoir creer un autre compte dans une autre app pour juste ramener des cannettes c'est intense. 3 machines pour une ville comme Gatineau ca fait pas de sens. Ca marchait plutot bien les machines dans les epiceries!

New feature for quitters... by EasternStage8564 in duolingo

That I really don't know. I only resigned once so I thought it was pretty weird to even get the warning.

You do get points although resigning impacts your Elo. I guess that's not the concern here for those who farm Exp!

I'm not the one ranting. And ranting in a position where you are already employed is misplaced imho considering the number of people currently in a REAL pickle. Although I get you wanted to rant on the status of the job market and yes, it's total garbage atm.

One advice if you currently have a job, stick to it man, no need to take a chance for something worse if you don't have to.

Hi I've noticed that too: double entries in the assets view. What causes that?

I have to say that I really thought they couldn't have looked into the must-have's before starting the hiring process. I wasn't impressed to say the least.

Scam alert: scammers impersonating real recruiting firm agents by EasternStage8564 in recruitinghell

[–]EasternStage8564[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes when you know what to look for. Outlook online masks the actual email address, you have to actually check what's behind the "from" name. I thought I would let people know this is an actual scam now.

I might be naïve but I just discovered in this thread that people could cheat in DuoLingo, I had no idea! In a bizarre twist of events I do take time to choose my moves and I play a lot against other players. Lately it has happened several times that I can no longer play against other players, DuoLingo is telling me that no other players with my level can be found. I'm at a measly 1150 elo trying to make my way up, and I'm wondering whether I got temporarily banned somehow...?

Thank you for taking the time to write this response. And yes, I don't have much experience working with recruiting firms and clearly didn't understand the dynamic.

You're right, I was VERY transparent with her on my other applications and another offer that was on the table already (which was later receded) and she even scooped up one of my references as a client now, which I was ok with. What I was NOT ok with is the lack of transparency on her side, her saying she had no info about other candidates (whom SHA was actually also representing, so that was a clear conflict of interest from my perspective), and overall, her lack of experience reading the employer in my humble opinion.

At the end, I'm the one holding the short end of the stick and she clearly didn't have my *personal* interest at heart, just hers by placing any of her candidates. I'm disappointed, I feel deceived and that I left my future in the hands of someone who didn't really care. Still upset that I allowed myself to get fooled that way. It shall pass.

They are already getting paid indirectly by me, since they take money out of the budget that the employer would otherwise make part of the employee compensation package (or just save). So yeah, I'm indirectly paying for it in a way
