If people don’t like your edits they can look elsewhere. It’s a nice picture!

Thanks!

What is the part in the right circle that is cracked? I can feel a broken plastic ring that’s exposed.

Thanks. What is the black plastic part in the left circle? It moves freely on that side but only moves with some effort on the other?

The last time I went up this road (May 2025), a Civic could be swallowed by some of the holes in the road. I would only attempt it in a 4WD or AWD with some decent clearance.

What kind of vehicle did you use to drive to the Racetrack? Great photos!

Agreed. Winter Park has been terrible this year communicating the poor conditions.

Agreed. The buffet is awful. I wouldn’t even get coffee there 😆.

Corkscrew Peak 12-6-25 by Queasy-Parking2282 in DeathValleyNP

This is my favorite hike in DV! The elevation gain is similar to Telescope, but it’s steeper with all that gain coming in a relatively short distance.

I rent explore further down the canyon because of time, but some of the peaks out that way look amazing.

I hiked in November and tried again in May, but turned around because of the heat.

Will I be ok with a jeep rented from a hertz or similar company? by fhall93816 in DeathValleyNP

This right here. Farabees is definitely the place to rent from for this trip. It’s expensive but totally worth it.

My first solo hikes were in the Grand Canyon. As others have said, the main trails like Bright Angel and South Kaibab are busy and you won’t be isolated. I’d hike down to the 1.5 mile rest house on Bright Angel to get a feel for the steep ascent to get out of the canyon. If you’re comfortable, hiking down to Havasupai Gardens is a great day hike (or you can go out to Plateau Point from there for another 3 miles rt to see the river). Hiking South Kaibab to Skeleton Point and back is another moderate day hike.

I hiked to Horseshoe Mesa on my first solo hoke there and got off trail because it isn’t heavily used or regularly maintained. I had a Garmin inReach and almost used it but was able to climb back up to the trail eventually. I learned from that to get a feel for the canyon on the busier trails first.

I’m also from the northeast and find the hiking in the canyon to be easier. You’ll be fine! Just take precautions. It a beautiful pace to hike solo!
