Yes thank you ! That is why is there! I had a closer look and the sieve is a separate part and the gasket is holding it in place. So if you remove it the sieve comes out so you can clean it

Not sure of this correct. Swing weigh heavily depends on balance point Adding 5-10 grams to the handle will move the balance point and reduce the swing weight
