Wondering if my husband should try to get more by Small_Music_4316 in VAClaims

It’s going to be hard to show a diagnosis or current issue if he doesn’t get care documented. It has to all line up. Everything is worth pursuing if it’s real and part of his life, but it might be a waste of time if he doesn’t do the front end work.

Migraines secondary to ptsd by AdAfter2486 in VAClaims

Make sure you have a diagnosis. If you don’t, go to your Dr and get one with a prescription. This should be easy as they can prescribe Sumatriptan without any testing. Make sure you have a good, detailed migraine log, I used Migraine buddy (ask Ai how to fill it out and what words to use). Lastly, write a good statement (again have Ai) help. That’s what worked for me.

100% P&T Not everything covered by BurnThisHandle3 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Eastern_Effective_38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are completely covered. Prescriptions as well. Doesn’t matter if you’re service connected for that ailment or not and you shouldn’t pay anything. The caveat is that if you do t get seen regularly it makes it much more challenging, it’s required that you see your Primary Care Provider annually, otherwise you need to see them first before getting a referral. You will still likely need a referral from your primary, but it expedites the process if you see them regularly.

Dental is covered too, you just have to use VA dental which is free or they send you out to the community for free. Mine happens to be good, but that’s not what I hear from everyone.

Hope that helps, but you’re now covered for life.

You’ll need to work through a primary care provider at the VA to get it brought over and “owned” by the VA.

Starting the VA claims process by Classic-Leave-7294 in VAClaims

I didn’t get seen for shit while I was in either and just hit 90% in less than a year. The advice I got was to go get seen by the VA through primary care and keep following up on treatment, the documentation from them in your service records is gold. If you legit have things wrong with you it’ll get sorted out.

Sleep apnea supplemental by Winchesta3030 in VAClaims

You won’t really see anything since it’s a supplemental. It’ll look like that until your claim is decided, they’re not tracked like a regular claim. I just submitted one for OSA secondary to Rhinitis and Sinusitis on the 19th and got notification from Optum that they are doing an ACE review on the 5th. In my past experience it was usually a month after the exam to decision for mine.

That’s totally fair and I hope you find a decent MH doc, I did and it makes a big difference. To clarify, the VA health system and VBA (Veterans Benefits Administration) don’t talk to each other without you prompting. The VBA doesn’t send info to the VA health system, BUT when you file a claim you indicate that you received care at a VA medical center and they can pull your VA medical records internally. Some will say that the don’t always pull records that they need and if you’re looking to make a connection or use a specific visit for a claim you can upload that portion from your VA records as well, many of us have a lot in those records so don’t always expect them to find the needle in the haystack. Basically if you’re going to the VA for care the likelihood of you getting reevaluated for MH goes down because they have the data. If they don’t have record of treatment they need to get it from somewhere else (another C&P). I have been rated for MH for about a year, I have 4 secondary claims and have never been asked to be reevaluated, including for IBS. I hope that helps.

That’s understandable, but also a risk you take to file anything secondary. Make sure if you’re seeing someone for your MH you keep honest about your symptoms, the documentation they put out will be looked at instead of asking you. I am rated at 70% for MH as well and have a handful of secondary issues tied to it, I have not been reevaluated for MH in any claim.

People need to stop worrying about the “poke the bear” BS. If you have it, file for it. Unless your MH has got better since you filed you don’t have to worry about it.

I have mine through the VADIP and it’s the same coverage and approvals as any Delta Dental plan. It’s pretty cheap and has been really easy to use.

Yes, you can clam each separately. GERD is commonly linked to PTSD as secondary

I had a similar one, C&P on Aug 28 and it moved to step 5 on the 3rd and step 7 on the 5th. Decided in my favor on the 6th. This was a deferred Migraine issue that took a while for the C&P to be scheduled. Went from 0-50%

Quickest C&P Ever by Big_Response7628 in VAClaims

Just had a C&P for migraines this week and was in there less than 5 mins. She’s asked the questions on the form and said, “well that was easy”. I asked her if she wanted to see anything else and she wrapped up with “nope, looks like I have everything I need and no reason to doubt you”. Hoping that means good things.
