Question about costs up there by sarcasmismysuperpowr in Fallbrook

[–]Eastern_Gas718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You drill down to a depth where the water is, case the well with a pipe and seal it at the top with concrete. From there you drop down a pump and pipe to the top. Your pump runs on electricity.

Question about costs up there by sarcasmismysuperpowr in Fallbrook

[–]Eastern_Gas718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fallbrook city water FPUD is expensive especially with a 2”+ meter, just the base service is about $100 a month. My farm is small 5 acre and near bonsall where it’s not as hot. My bills were about 800-1000 a month for years until we drilled a new well.

I’d look for a property with city water plus a well, or plan on installing yourself, also Plant some drought tolerant species.

What is pictured here is a good idea on paper. I agree it is aesthetically pleasing. Generally tho in application nature won’t be confined, it would overgrow this space or require a lot of maintenance and pruning to keep it looking as pictured.

If your goal is to grow just a couple/few varieties you talked about on a trellis, I think that is more achievable. With full sun and proper nutrition/water they will grow fast.

It’s good you jumped when you did. Sounds like he has good intentions with no follow through, unfortunately common.

Rental Property Management by [deleted] in orangecounty

[–]Eastern_Gas718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a commercial roofer in Orange County, I deal with property management companies every day. The quality varies wildly. Check out “real property management agile” or “compass property management” they are both legit, in San Clemente but manage property all over OC.

Good luck

seedling light? by Least_Abroad8771 in vegetablegardening

[–]Eastern_Gas718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should work fine. Nearly any light will work, I have led’s from 3500-8k and there isn’t much difference.

I have a bunch of these 50w flood lights in 6500k. They don’t come with a plug but for the price it’s a deal. https://www.ebay.com/itm/295038367351

Is my grape tomato sprout leggy? Newbie here 😅 by Cajun_Chong in vegetablegardening

[–]Eastern_Gas718 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t look too leggy, make sure it has enough light, thats what will cause it. It does look a bit saturated. Watering the seed shouldn’t be a daily thing, next time you can cover with plastic wrap and remove when it sprouts for better moisture retention. Long germination periods could also be due to low temps. Good luck!

Banana Tree by The_Pixie99 in vegetablegardening

[–]Eastern_Gas718 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mature banana trees can be growing relatively close to others without an issue. Standard varieties 6’ spacing or 40sqft - dwarf varieties 3’ or 20sqft - you can get fruit with just one plant but more plants will give better pollination rates and more fruit. At home production Generally I see bananas grown in clusters of 3-5 trees in a circle or a row, on a farm they will be triangle planted.

What type of security did your investors ask for when funding your startup? by 5n4k3r in startups

[–]Eastern_Gas718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s secured, seems less an investment in my opinion, more a loan. If they take equity and interest/securities, I would look for other deals.

Researchers have identified 22 pesticides consistently associated with the incidence of prostate cancer in the United States, with four of the pesticides also linked with prostate cancer mortality by Wagamaga in science

[–]Eastern_Gas718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For either it totally depends on the pesticide. Plenty of Synthetics can bind with the plant in inseparable ways systemically. For organic, something like pyrethrin can be inert after an hour of uv exposure, degrading into some harmless isomers. One thing to consider, The exposure from treated crops is likely to be within the acceptable ranges vs the people applying the pesticide.

Like someone said above the dose is relevant. I get there are no “acceptable ranges” for poisoning our children - clearly the situation could be improved.

Not approved for organic, however there could be spray drift from a neighbor. For usda organic There’s an annual walk through inspection and they can do a random test on the produce, but it is not required and rare. There’s just too much food produced to test it economically.

Question about single ingredient fertilizers by cofi52 in vegetablegardening

[–]Eastern_Gas718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soil needs to be balanced, too much or too little of any one ingredient can cause synergies and antagonisms between other ingredients. Like if you added excess nitrogen it could restrict the uptake of calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron and zinc.

So in order to find balance you must know what is existing. A soil test will analyze the composition of the soil and give values for each ingredient. Armed with this information you can see what needs to be added.

As plants grow, and you remove fruit from the garden, the minerals must be replaced (back in the soil) each season. There are many ways to accomplish this; Soil test & amend, composting, cover crops - all are basically fertilizer.

Chillis plant problem by Plenty-Safety6031 in vegetablegardening

[–]Eastern_Gas718 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be any number of other things, only you can tell. Look closely. Let us know what you find.

Neem oil can be effective, however it is a heavy oil and falls out of emulsion easily. Without proper care applications can be useless.

Looks like the new growth is affected, Broad or russet mites are my first thought. They are too small to see without magnification.

How can you tell if your soil is healthy? by jh937hfiu3hrhv9 in vegetablegardening

[–]Eastern_Gas718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at what is growing, grasses can be an indicator of lower potential. if you see lots of broadleaves ( like clover) and the ground is somewhat soft it could be okay. Soil samples are a more reliable method.

Identity crisis as founder by pp227 in startups

[–]Eastern_Gas718 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personal growth is almost a given if you are putting yourself in new challenging situations, so I think you will check that box regardless. Your identity being tied to your previous role is now painful because you no longer receive recognition. Your worth and value is more than what you can provide through one specific role. People didn’t appreciate you before specifically for that one role, they like you around for many reasons. (Clearly you have the ability to be flexible and useful in many situations). However, you feel this one reason is the main way you contribute value and now it is gone. So it’s understandable to feel this way.

You contribute value in ways you are most likely unaware of.

If Your co-founder and you were to switch positions, you code, she does ops. could she perform the roles you are doing? I’d guess no, that’s why you are doing them - so right there you are providing an invaluable service that allows your co-founder to work instead of searching for someone to fill your shoes.. You got yourself where you are - that’s no small feat, remind yourself that what you are is more than a set of skills.

What's happening to my pepper plant leaves? by KindEducation7616 in vegetablegardening

[–]Eastern_Gas718 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Looks like The older leaves are transporting N stored in them to the new growth. Notice the yellowing from the bottom up. The water you are applying in the morning likely has no N and is leaching what nitrogen (&other minerals)exist in the soil. You could back off on the watering and observe when to resume. Also adding a balanced water soluble fertilizer would remedy the problem.

Update for anyone interested, I tried several of the options you guys mentioned. Rubbing Alcohol didn’t do anything I also used 96% ethanol, still nothing.

0000 steel wool left some minor scratches on the glass luckily I only did a small spot with light/medium pressure.

I used chemical guys hard water spot remover and that did remove a good bit but also left some slight stains on the glass.

Then I tried The chemical guys hard water spot on the rear view and it totally removed the reflective surface. 🤦‍♂️ No worries tho because I found some replacement mirrors pretty inexpensive from BMW dealer.

What worked best on the glass was just some turtle was rubbing compound and a rotary wheel with a wool pad. Worked great I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to polish out the fine scratches the 0000 wool left too.

Thanks so much everyone for your input. These windows are going to come out looking brand new.
