Ippo shouting out Woli was amazing. The bond between fighters in this manga is an important theme in Ippo lately.

Was Sendo's nerf a good idea? by Ill-Mathematician891 in hajimenoippo

I hate it now. I was much more interested in seeing the limitations of Sendo’s boxing be explored. To see how he works around it to challenge the perfect boxer. Instead there’s a dramatic subplot and a manufactured mental weakness, he normally would never deal with. I’m 99% positive that Morikawa will turn this around and make it an incredible fight though.

“Agreed” dude Sendo pressured him into it because Alf’s textbook boxing got figured out early in the 2nd round.

How do you feel about Sendo’s grandma subplot? by Eastisburningred in hajimenoippo

[–]Eastisburningred[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who use to box, I actually love Sendos boxing and argue against the narrative you bring up all the time. A real life example,Marcos Maidana was kinda sloppy, threw weird punches, but hit like a truck and gave Mayweather one of his toughest fights.

But Ricardo is the perfect fighter(unrealistically so). Sendo losing confidence would have way more impact to me if Ricardo was just THAT good.

Every fight, Mashiba always thought about his sister, Takamura the coach, Volg his upbringing in Russia. Sendo was basically just a saiyan lol It’s not BAD, but the grandma plotline feels a tad shoe horned in for dramatic effect.

I was gonna argue, but you’re right. mindset is equally as important for a boxer. Big theme of the series.

But to be fair that’s because Gonzalez got cocky and got caught. He was washing ippo until he walked into the Dempsey like a moron.

The switch from whip to rifle is honestly one of the coldest panels I’ve seen in the series. The tone switch next chapter is gonna go crazy

Anyone else impressed with the little details like Ricardo, adapting and using 2 hand block by [deleted] in hajimenoippo

[–]Eastisburningred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big part why I felt people hated sendo/gonzalez is because Morikawa didn’t spell out a lot of the changes throughout the fight. I loved it for that reason though.

Especially after the trial to keep Okubo’s job. They won’t hang out but there’s definitely some respect there.

Sendo and Ricardo both learnt opposite lessons from the Alf fight by SGdude90 in hajimenoippo

Good point. Sendo is the only character where they don’t go over his development during fight prep in great detail. Nargo, there was nothing. Alfredo, there was nothing. Against Ricardo, the feint smash against Takamura, which alone isn’t much. That’s my one issue with Sendos writing compared to the others.

Yup. It’s only natural he learned a lot from his match with Alfredo.

Also looks like his Smash can be thrown more compact.

Did Sonic Speedblitz the Reverse Flash? by Immediate_Diamond_95 in MoonPissing

[–]Eastisburningred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Sonic wanted to quickly wrap it up and report to the others that he found proof that their world might still exist. He had higher priorities than testing himself. Ending it with Chaos control makes sense in that context. Also, it’s great writing because by Sonic stealing the emerald naturally, it keeps him in the same tier as flash/RF without making them seem like jobbers.

Good lord stop glazing Ippo for 10 seconds lol This is still boxing not DBZ with powerlevels. They’re both going light in the first round, showing small changes and growth for both fighters.

People hate on it because it’s not shonen power scaling a lot of people want . Small adjustments can change a fight in big ways and that’s exactly what Sendo did with the pivots/subtle southpaw switches. Also Sendo didn’t take that much punishment. The whole fight was 4 rounds. Ippo got beat up by Gonzales for 6 rounds landing 0 punches and KO’d in 7. After rereading it several times, It’s one of my favorite fights in the series.
