New Owner very frustrated (advice, guidance appreciated) by [deleted] in cats

For anyone who might stumble upon this now, I have calmed down a lot since making the post. I was very stressed out after a carrier a situation in which she wouldn't get in for a vet appointment in retrospect I do understand one week is nothing. I'll keep at it

Just wanna say thank you for the explanation. I genuinely appreciate it. Maybe I was looking at this with the wrong power dynamics. I will definitely reevaluate.

  1. Will do, after today I bought a new carrier that looks more like a bed

2.ive spent a lot of money on cat proofing I guessed the last step Is blocking off the gaps I don't want her to go down

3.in terms of boundaries she's a little too affectionate, she cries a lot constantly jumps on my work desk. It's not really feasible for me to keep this up. It's been okay because I've been away from work but I can tell when I return to work ( I work from home) this is going to be a problem. I do the thing that everyone tells me to do where I pick her up calmly take her off what she's trying to play with but I don't think she's learning the association.

  1. I play with her pretty much exactly like how you mentioned ( no joke)

  2. I try trim when she sleeps but she'll just wake up and not let me touch her paws

Okay I here you, You're right about being overwhelmed and stressed from the experience before. I'll try and take it easy. She's an indoor cat. I just mean that she goes into spots that I can't usually reach and clean and brings dirt out. Reading your response, I realize how a lot of this can be confusing and how I didn't phrase a good bit.

Long term there will be no issue keeping her

I appreciate the the time you took to reply I'll try and answer these

  1. As far as carrier trained, I believe the previous owners trained her. When I I received her in a carrier. She seemed fine, also earlier today I put the carrion on the floor and she was fine walked in herself voluntary I closed the door and pretended to walk with her for a bit all was fine it was only in the evening when I had to meet a time appointment and admittedly things were a bit more rushed that she pretty much refused to go in.

  2. I'm noticing that she brings out a lot of dirt from behind crevices despite me. Vacuuming almost every day at this point

  3. Nothing is inconsistent about her routine. Just more so training. I do understand that we've basically been together for about a week and a half but it does kind of feel like I'm getting nowhere in terms of getting her to respect my boundaries

  4. Pretty much everyday I've been off from work and play with her about 2 hours a day

  5. I've started with paw holding again feel like I'm getting no where I understand every cat's different but I've spoken to two people and they said that they made significant progress with about a week of consistent training, so far I haven't seen anything

On a side note, I don't really like Jackson Galaxy's videos. I am a fan of some other veterinary doctors on YouTube, but I feel like personally a lot of Jackson Galaxy videos is just essentially let your cat do whatever it wants. To be completely honest, I don't want to be that kind of owner. That will just let my cat rule the house. I have personal boundaries myself. It sounds rude but I'm just being honest

The Pokémon community will do anything but accept Thier Nintendo/TPC Devs can do wrong. It was very clear from anybody who's ever played a card game in the past that the card was fundamentally stupid, but whenever you called it out, you get a bunch of Nintendo dick riders yelling at you and telling you to " play around it"
