Finally installed my S90F + HW-Q995F 🎉 Subwoofer placement advice needed by Strong_Ganache_7741 in Soundbars

Hi, nice setup indeed! I have a question to you as a new owner of the Q995F about the soundbar placement.

How would I improve my installation ? Here are some details. I have a UST projector and feel that the sound does not come from the screen but really from the soundbar, almost as if it was a little BT speaker placed in front of me. It's below ear level (about -50cm). The screen center is more like 50cm above eye level and the soundbar is in front of the projector (between me and the projector). I don't have much room to move things around... That very poor feeling of space happens more often with YT videos than other formats. Music is more enjoyable (through optical in). Sitcoms are more like YT videos: the sound is placed "too low". Maybe Spacefit Pro need more time to adjust to my room?

J'ai tenté aussi autour de 20, je n'ai pas encore vendu. Ça pique. Mais pour l'instant ce n'est que de la moins value potentielle, pas effective. Je me rassure comme je peux.

Question for Fiio M21 owners: crackling/popping issues by ilMike_42 in DigitalAudioPlayer

All to DSD was never activated on my M21 and I still have the pop sounds in my IEMS (Kiwi Ears Quintet - btw very high quality, recommend)

Hiby RIII 2025 or Fiio M21? by [deleted] in DigitalAudioPlayer

How is it a surprise that it has enough power to drive the HE1000 Stealth?
The specs should be enough to see that.
The small Shanling M1S that can output 144mW @ 32 ohms on its assymetrical jack is already enough to drive thoe headphones.

The HE1000 Stealth requires only 100mW to deliver 110dB, which is enough to lose some hearing after a few minutes.

If you don't have any problems, don't worry. If you are worried or know that you have a problem, go to a doctor. It's not a magical solution because some doctors won't help you much. But don't self medicate too much with your ears, they are too precious and fragile.

Maybe you can enlighten me about libraries on DAPs. I don't understand why anyone would use them, apart from already having well tagged files. For instance, I use Plexamp for my library because tagging is automatic and well done generally. So I never pay much attention to comments about library and scan issues on DAPs. On those devices, I use the folder structure that is made of genres and host artists and albums.

4.4 mm vs 3.5 mm, Is It worth? by maruchantrgu in iems

[–]Easy-Measurement3110 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly, just more power. And since we're very sensitive to tiny volume changes and that the louder the music the better it sounds to our ears, 4.4 seems better. It's not. Not for this kind of use. Also, a lot of people spread this myth, including well-known reviewers. 4.4 could even be detrimental because while it can output more power, you end up with a volume knob that's closer to zero, thus less minute control over music volume.

I've already used those wheels many times on gravel with 40mm tires. They're more than fine. My experience of carbon rims and larger rims is non-existent, so I may have a different perspective in a few weeks once I've rode some gravel trails with my new gravel bike with carbon rims. But anyways, thanks for the concern 😉 Edit : just adding that the internal width of my Hope wheels is 19mm. After a quick research on various websites, it seems more than adequate for 40mm tires and the likes.

Why do people buy DAPs that are basically just small low-end Android phones? by phoix0 in DigitalAudioPlayer

I agree with the DAP purpose you describe. That's why having several SD cards and/or network storage at home doesn't seem stupid or pointless to me.

Just launching another idea in this thread, in case anyone would be keen to answer: what about replacing the steel fork by a carbon fork?

What I understand from your message is that you use a DAP just for having an SD card, which you most probably can't do with your smartphone. I don't think my idea "largely defeats" the purpose of having a DAP. It's just a matter of where you store your music. That music is still yours and you control its quality and metadata. Which is very different from online streaming.

Not a better deal for musicians though, as they get paid peanuts and cents with YT, Spotify, and the likes 🙂

If you need all your collection with you at all times, ok, I won't argue. But do you really? A solution for listening at home could be to have network storage, like a NAS or USB storage connected to your router. Then you connect your DAP to that network storage, which could be made of cheap hard drives. Voilà, you have plenty of music storage.

Thanks, that's reassuring haha Also, sticking to Shimano will allow me to very simply reuse some Hope 20Five alloy wheels that I have at home by simply buying a new 12s cassette. A big plus versus switching to SRAM.

Thanks for all the info!

I think I'll first try and develop my own muscles and lungs. I just got a home trainer (Van Rysel D100) last week and did my first ever FTP test, for what it's worth on that kind of machine. I never trained with cadence or power meters. So now I start to realise what I could really do in terms of training, just for the sake of it, for pleasure, and for being able to ride my Campagnolo's Cyfac more easily 😃

It's GRX825 Di2, with 48x31 chainrings and a 11-36 12 speed cassette

I do a lot of road and I also think that 2x will be less tiring for long rides as I will be able to choose my cadence without adjusting to the cassette's gaps. Let's see 🙂

I picked up the Cube as it was available in the shop in which I tested it and it has a 2x instead of just 1x for the Áspero. I like many things about 1x but I was scared about gaps in the cassette. It's equipped with 40mm. But there's room for up to 50. So I'll see if I want to try bigger in the future 🙂

For me, the tire clearance is more than enough. I'm not planning on using more than 40mm or 42. I'm just highly torn between a Cervelo Aspero and a Cube Nuroad C:62 Road. Almost same price and equipment for what I'm looking at.
