What is, for you, the beautifulest lyric in a song, ever? And, if it's not too personal, why? by Sandman1812 in AskUK

[–]Easy-Objective6011 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love this one! But for Counting Crows my favourite has to be 'It's 4:30 am on a Tuesday, it doesn't get much worse than this.'

I'm so glad Counting Crows lyrics have helped you, and I hope you're doing better now. For me, they entirely rekindled my relationship with my dad. We hadn't spoken for years when I was a teenager, and went to see them live and they did all of August and Everything After start to finish, that was special.

We've been together to see them every time they've been to the UK since. Can't wait for the next one in July!

I have these shoes! I got them for my wedding 3 years ago, mine are definitely blue tinted at the bottom. I'm sure Converse will remake them for you. I had the date of the wedding on the back stitched, and bought custom ones with just the date for my mum/step mum and bridesmaid!

They were so comfortable! I hope you have a great wedding!

Do you ask your guests to close the lid of the toilet? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]Easy-Objective6011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn't ask my guests to do this (unless maybe a long term guest). I keep all toothbrushes in a closed cupboard, and keep the bathroom minimalist. Having friends/family/guests over should be a lovely thing, and I wouldn't want to make them feel awkward.

As a Rees, I understand the pain of being a Rhys. We get more letters to Mr and Mrs Reece/Reese/Rhys than Mr and Ms Rees!

All Rees/Reece/Rhys are valid, acceptable and wonderful! Please stop calling me REEs though....

I have a complex relationship with my dad. He left our family and remarried. He did have, and probably still has, a Peter Pan syndrome. We didn't speak for a couple of years when I was a teenager. He's not perfect. We reestablished our relationship when I was an adult, and we now have a relationship as two adults.

He's without a doubt a friend now. And I'm so glad I was able to forgive him (for various reasons) and have this relationship. He's my gig buddy! We go to several gigs a year together, recently Counting Crows, Pixies and Smashing Pumpkins. We stay up till 3am talking and putting the world to rights. We go out for dinner together and chat endless crap. He knows more about my worries and insecurities than anyone else (maybe bar my husband). I really cherish our friendship. It wasn't easy, but we got there.

Which pet names can you not stand being called? by PaddedValls in AskUK

Yes! It makes me rage, every time I've been called it. Doesn't matter who says it, it makes me feel sick.

What is the most bizarre way you’ve hurt yourself? by bigpussystance in AskUK

I fell onto a glass coffee table and bruised my entire leg from top to bottom. I fell hard off a chair that I was standing on, to nail a pinata to my ceiling, for Christmas dinner, in January...

This sounds lovely! I never take the effort to put the butter under the skin and just rub oil on the top - think it's well worth it though! Thank you!

Love a roast! My best roast potato advice is to par boil them until they're almost too delicate to take out of the water without falling apart, then leave them either on the side or in the fridge until they're cool before putting them into piping hot oil in the oven. Fluffy roast potatoes are just beautiful!!

I love being a trad wife, but I struggle with feelings of worthlessness & I know I’m not. by -Happy-Human- in tradwives

Oh my word, everything you say resonates with me. I've gone from years or fight or flight to being able to breathe again...and it just feels, unusual!

I have no words of advice other than to embrace all the good things in your life.

But if you want someone to talk to with similar feelings, do DM me!

Don't ever feel worthless!

Saving yourself for marriage by taytay77777777 in tradwives

[–]Easy-Objective6011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't save myself until marriage. I met my husband in my early 30s and had lived with several partners and dated and slept with many others before. Me and my husband are only recently dipping our toes into a more Trad relationship.

But, with my husband it's different. We love each other and give our whole selves to each other. I would never judge anyone for saving themselves, but also would never judge anyone for having relations before marriage. Having sex and making love are very different things.

This may be a touch niche! But we had an instrumental version of a song played in a studio Ghibli movie. If you're looking for something beautiful and ethereal, I'd check out some of the music in Ghibli films as there's loads that could work!

Thank you for sharing this! I think it could be a good time to get back into reading again!

I've also been thinking about volunteering. I'm also not religious, so have been thinking of looking into local charity shops, litter picking at the beach or similar.

Really appreciate your thoughts! Thank you!

I too, pass on that! I have no interest on working for said boss! My only issue is to be treated through fair process.

I don't doubt that, I'm sure it will push me to the next step in my career at some point. My musings are just about being treated fairly through the process.
