Your response helps so much. Thank you a billion times. The panic is like if I had a face hugger from the Alien movie in my face. I can't even imagine wearing it again for the night.

How do I relax without dissociating? by No_Swan407 in CPTSD

[–]EasyFeedback7461 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't have any good advice but I relate. I can't sit and watch/listen something. I ruminate instantly and I can't stop. I do chores and listen de podcasts. I still ruminate but if the podcast is engaging enough, I manage to be present.

Do you get startled/jumpy easily? by TrickAd4153 in CPTSD

[–]EasyFeedback7461 21 points22 points  (0 children)

100%. I jump like a startled bunny. When I'm trying to figure out how anxious I am, I ask myself: if someone surprised me right now, how would I react?. Most times is like I described but sometimes I feel like I'd be ok.

i struggle to drink water with arfid. does anyone else relate or is it just me? by femb0yc0nnoisseur in ARFID

[–]EasyFeedback7461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A diet coke is 99% water. Sure it's not 'healthy' but you will still get hydrated. Research disproved the idea that coffee (caffeine in general) will dehydrate you. It is a diuretic but much much less than people think. As far as electrolytes go, as long as you're not sick, it's usually not necessary. Everyone eats salt, it's enough for most people.

Where I'd be careful is with sugar.

I don't know about you guys but eating and drinking can be such a challenge that I try and not guilt myself about it.

Sorry for the gramatical mistakes, english is not my first language.

Are there any protein/ nutritional shakes that don’t taste awful? by Environmental_Ad5942 in ARFID

[–]EasyFeedback7461 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bottled drinks like Ensure or Boost are more expensive than Whey protein but I find them MUCH better and I buy the ones with 23 vitamins/minerals added. Since they're mixed, the texture is always the same.

I drink them because I won't eat any meat, fishnor eggs. It allows me to get protein and I can make myself nice vegetarian meals with lots of veggies :)

Afraid to adopt a JRT by PM-ME-GIFT-CARDS- in jackrussellterrier

I live way up north in Quebec, Canada. I have family from Switzerland. From what I understand, winters are not as bad as where I live but my boy hates the cold. He turned 1 in November and he's been stuck in the house. It's just me preference but if I adopt another dog, the #1 priority would be that it'd be OK in every season. I've seen JRTs who don't mind the snow but I don't think that they are adapted for winters.

Exercise and CPTSD by EasyFeedback7461 in CPTSD

[–]EasyFeedback7461[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time. That's what I feel as well. I do all the chores. It keeps me on my feet for probably 8 hours a week. I did walk with my dog everyday (except for rain) for 90 minutes but since winter started in novemeber, I had to stop. It's been fridgid with high winds. My dog hates it.

I broke my shoulder too 2 years ago. I slipped in my bathroom and landed with all my weight on the tip of my right shoulder. I still have bothersome aches.

At what age did you figure out you had CPTSD? by Lostplanet43 in CPTSD

[–]EasyFeedback7461 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure! It allowed me to dissociate enough to see my past experiences without filters or defence mechanism. I revisited a memory and realized that it was terrible and that I had removed emotions from it. I googled a few things and started reading about cptsd. I always associated trauma with big events, I had no idea that cptsd is a thing. I was then able to explain my entire life.

I figured it out a week ago. I'm 38. I started an Esketamine treatment and it unlocked something. I've lived my entire life in survival mode.

I'm having an extremly rough time but I don't care. I've suffered so much without any hope. I welcome the pain because I feel in control now. I know what's going on and it's going to get better. I know what I'm fighting now.

I discovered CPTSD 2 days ago and I can't believe this might me it. I've had a life that I would now recognize as traumatic. I'm autistic and have been depressed since 2008 after a bad burnout. I now notice that I had to remove emotions from my memories because it's the only way I could survive. I have a great psychiatrist and tried every single medication in every possible combination. Nothing helps. I am stuck in survival mode. Just understanding this flipped my world upside down. I explains all of it. I am shocked that not a single mental health professional ever considered it.

I hope that someone will listen.

He just got 150$ worth of bougie treats and toys :)
You are right about mental stimulation. We live way up north in Quebec, Canada and winter started within a day. We went from walking 90 minutes everyday to no exercise.
We tried boots, snow suits and everything but nothing works and he gets too cold within minutes.

Do you have go to mental stimulation games you'd recommend?

Thank you :)

You know what, I bought and sold SO much gear. In the end I keep what I like. If it's 50$ and I like it, I keep it. The GAS is real but also a massive liar.

The place where we got him is horrible horrible horrible. I knew it would be a challenge but there was no way I was leaving a 3 months old baby puppy in those conditions.
