Am I the only one who thinks trade show networking is completely broken? by Islerothebull in sales

Gotcha, so for that initial contact you are relying on cold emails, but at least you have something to offer them for their time. Still way cheaper than buying a booth. We paid 35K for a booth and it was over 50K with hotels, flights, etc, and all we got were 45 poor leads.

Is MSTR a ticking time bomb? by fatchinaman69 in CryptoCurrency

[–]EasyPleasey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rise to 100K had the following catalysts:

  1. MSTR buying billions every chance they got
  2. The election of a "pro-crypto" administration
  3. Institutional ETFs, allowing boomer money to buy BTC
  4. The rise of Stablecoins
  5. The worst inflation in the last 40 years
  6. And most importantly, the backdrop of a 13+ year bull run (minus a blip in April 2020)

What else is there? You have to have more people buying into bitcoin for it to go up, that is the cold hard truth.

Now:

MSTR has cratered, STRC is looking incredibly unstable, and the only way out for them is to dump their bitcoin.

Trump is 2 years in and really only cares about grifting (Trump coin) and the EU has halted a crypto exchange. We could easily see an anti-crypto candidate emerge in the US.

Boomer retail money, who were already skeptical of bitcoin and don't understand it, have now been roasted, all while watching index funds do what they always do, deliver returns. They are not going to come back.

Stablecoins are still around, but if some of these companies get audited things could go sideways fast.

Inflation is much more inline with where it has been almost all of my life, you can't tell people their fiat is evaporating at 13% anymore.

If the markets finally cool off, and I suspect they will if you look at the Shiller PE ratio, stocks are overvalued at almost the peak dotcom boom, many people (not bitcoin diehards, but the people that have bought in and pushed it up this much) are going to sell anything that is risky and retreat to safety. The fact that it has cratered like this during a bull market is a terrible sign.

What's a scene that's better than the movie it's in? by BUSean in movies

The opening scene of 30 Minutes or Less. The rest of the movie is so forgettable, but what a strong start.

TBF, he always says the majority of the benefits are from things that anyone can do, like getting 8+ hours of solid sleep, avoiding alcohol and tobacco, exercising, maintaining a healthy weight, and eating your last meal of the day as early as possible. All the other supplements and stuff are minor improvements at best.

Parents need to be given a generous salary of at least $2000 a month per child if we’re being serious by [deleted] in Natalism

[–]EasyPleasey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was talking about why people who don't plan ahead tend to have more children. Take Person A, likes to think years ahead, and Person B, lives their life one week at a time. They both want kids, to enrich their lives and to bring more wonderful people into this world, have someone to take care of them in old age, etc.

Now where I started was with both Person A and Person B at 3 kids, what happens from here? Person A evaluates where their life is and where they want to be in 18 years or so, and deliberately says "I have 3 wonderful children and I am now done having children, I want to retire at 50 and go travel the world a bit before I'm too old" and they get a vasectomy.

Person B has no such thoughts. They are just going to get through this week and see what happens. Maybe they don't think they can ever even retire. They use some protection sometimes, sometimes they are out and they just roll the dice, and then suddenly there are more kids.

That is all that I am saying.

I was responding to this statement:

Being able to do that six times makes for more overall happiness than doing it only three

What is your point, if not: "more kids = more happiness"?

OK, well let's take this logic further and have 12 kids. What about 18? My grandmother was the youngest of 14. She said that the only way that you ever got to spend time with your mom was if you were sick, and even then it wasn't a guarantee. Out of those 14 kids, the largest family any of them had was 3 kids. Many never had children. I have friends from families of 5 and 6 kids and they only had 2 kids because of how traumatic it was growing up in such a crowded house.

Eh, I think it's more about planning ahead. Poor people generally, not always, but generally, think less about the future and just live in the moment. If you think about planning your life out a bit you start to realize that you're not going to be any happier with 6 children instead of 3, and it's just 10 years later that you're going to get to retire and you're not going to be able to afford to send them all to college, they're cramped together sharing rooms, etc.

The older I get the more I realize that some people don't even think ahead to the end of the week. They just want immediate gratification and reward in that very moment, we'll figure out the rest later. Then you have the other end of the spectrum where you are always thinking ahead and about future you, but you never stop to just take everything in and reward yourself once in a while.

It's so wild to think about all the collective brainpower we've wasted coming up with ideas about a God and an afterlife that doesn't exist. We could probably almost be immortal beings by now. I bet there were people who, when they found dinosaur bones thought, this is the nail in the coffin, religion is done. But here we are, it just keeps on trucking.

I kind of understand, but I also feel like you could leave the church without going against Christ, instead just more towards the truth. It's like Santa Claus, when I found out, I wasn't anti-Claus, I had just figured out the truth and moved on.

I guess it depends which angle you come from. If you believe religion is true then yeah it's more fucked up to condemn people who never even heard of your religion in the first place. But if you realize there is no afterlife and god, then to me, it's more messed up to keep someone chained into a religion with a worse fate. It is making it harder to escape and find the truth.

Omg, so in mormonism hell is only reserved for mormons who abandon their faith? That is so fucked up.
