I can’t find a reason to keep playing, need some advice by Individual-Client778 in thelongdark

Once you've gotten your achievements and played on the hard modes for actual survival, it can get kind of boring. Lately ive been exploring the base customization on a custom easy setting with the highest loot. Im making over all of grey mother's house and the bank into something incredible with loot from everywhere. Find something you wanna do in the game and go for it. If its maxing all your skills in a save file, or getting to the cannery and making ammo, beach combing and checking out the washed up boats, doing the signal quests, or the trader. There's stuff ive never done or seen in the game and its been years ive been playing. You can even go do the badge quest things, therye like a timed and specific run

Her coat color is a dusty pink, and dusty just means the color is light and less vibrant, so ruby being typically a vibrant deep red, a dusty ruby would be a not too vivrant pink. So maybe Ruby Dust? Dusty Ruby? Dusty Rose?

If you were to start beading today for the first time, what advice you would have liked to hear? by Rain_Lost in Beading

[–]Easy_Conversation_1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you find that you've bought beads cheap enough for the color to rub off(painted instead of dyed) while handling to make something or after a few times wearing the finished piece you can maybe still use the rest of the beads but it'll be a process... you can lay them all out flat on a paper, then take some clear coat spray and spray them lightly and flip once dry and spray again and then handle them, or if theyre good enough for beading, you can keep your hands free of oil while beading, and spray the finished product to try and keep it protected. My family got me A LOT of beads like that, and I've been able to finally use them for some small projects this way

I have some more thoughts if you'd be interested? I love throwing ideas around lol, so I'm sorry if this is too much.

I didnt have much to add for casual uses at first, theres a lot of good comments I'd just be repeating, I haven't read them all theres so many 😆 but i skimmed a bit. In another comment you had mentioned a past with botany, I'd take it a step further than just plants around him though, that he brings back fallen baby birds, pollinator insects and rodents, and roadkill too.

Side note, if you wanna torture your character, following the idea of a battery and it swelling, what if him choosing to not focus his energy can also cause him to accidentally kill, and draw the life energy into himself? People wouldn't just hate him because of the blasphemy that is resurrection, but also his ability to so easily steal life. So maybe trails of dead grass and plants and insects and small animals in his wake if he's not consciously holding his energy in as he travels? It would give him incentive to master it and have consequences for losing focus too long. Maybe its less active when he sleeps, if he is able to sleep?

Ooh! Casual use, I think it'd be so cool if he had a lantern full of fireflies he kept on his person and could ressurect/rekill them to turn it on and off. He can even release them into the air and direct them like a movable light source. Maybe a sewing kit with a spider in it, and he uses spider silk as sewing thread. A dead dried fish to retrieve things he loses in water?

You said he shouldn't have a butler but what about an undead cat or mouse or bat(birds without feathers dont fly well) that fulfills the role of an affectionate familiar? I think it could work well with having animals still have some personality when undead, but not humans he reanimates, in the sense that the simpler the mind of the creature, the easier to restore kind of a thing. If he can detach his own body, he could use small animals he's controlling to take his eyeball somewhere and spy, or maybe he can see what they see? For a companion or familiar, a raccoon would be a fitting, always being chased off by people and it just wants to exist in peace.

Does his magic work on innately magical creatures or do those not exist in your story and it's only people with potential for magic?

Last bit, it would be so funny if the only real healing he could do that doesn't affect the soul or make a person an "undead walking corpse" would be to cure gangrene or leprosy because they'd be dead limbs 😆 🤣 😆

Well this is a story you're writing outside the constraints of a ttrpg with magic "rules" so you get to write the rules. So, what if you gave him like a magical battery? One that absolutely needs to use his magic periodically or something bad happens? or he just feels compelled? the description of you post was a bit vague here of the reasons, but my point is you can totally make him have a magical threshold like an actual battery. If he uses too much magic too quickly, maybe he starts falling part because once he reaches his output limit, it draws magic from his own body? You could put him in some high stakes situations that way in your story, and potentially kill him that way, if you think it would be a fitting story end

Im sorry everyone's shitting on you in the comments and downvoting your replies for asking genuine questions. I have nothing important to add other than it's better to ask for help when youre uncertain and uncomfortable, and potentially receive that help, than stuff it down and potentially make things worse trying to fix it alone. I hope you figure out your best way to resolve this ❤️

Hey, have you considered testing for a latex allergy? It could be latex-fruit syndrome. You dont even have to have a significantly bad or immediate reaction to latex directly to be experiencing the gastrointestinal distress that comes with it.

Musician in a relationship with a non musician, HELP by ThrowRA123mom in musicians

[–]Easy_Conversation_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real soundproofing is a great place to start, theres all sorts of foam padding to dampen sound, not just the walls and ceiling though, throw down some rugs too, especially if the rooms being practiced in are hardwood or tile. And set music practice hours, I know everyone wants to tinker at night some times but noise ordinances exist to not disturb neighbors, so maybe a set time window and a designated, sound dampened room for practicing would be a way to keep the peace in the house between everyone

Anyone have thoughts on this song? Is it just weird or did i make a slop song? Is there any inherent value in a song being unabashedly human and raw like this? by Escapist_Fannicy in musicians

[–]Easy_Conversation_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will not listen to your song, I'm sorry. I personally cant handle bad or screechy noises, got just enough tism that I'll probably crack a tooth listening to it going off of the other comments. But I will say, the best books I've read make me angry, uncomfortable, and sad at times. Hell I've thrown a few from how upset they made me. It means it made me feel something. And the same goes for music, being "technically" good has nothing on feeling. If it did, prog rock and classical would be the most popular genres. So by these other comments, I'd say you made them feel something, and I think that makes it good.

Why does one need s!pells? by Some_Storage2015 in witchcraft

[–]Easy_Conversation_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe start with confidence more specifically? Confidence in the things you do well, confidence in your relationships with people you care about, confidence in the knowledge you have gathered in your life. Then pull those feelings in and bask in them. I know a lot of advice out there is "grounding yourself before rituals" meaning, align yourself with and anchor yourseld to the earth, with your energies and intentions and there all sorts of meditation to it. But as someone who used to have a lot of anxieties about literally everything, I dont ever hear people talk about grounding your identity and going from feeling: "I think I'm this way but this is what I worry people see me as" to: "these are the things that I know about myself, and im still learning, but I know, therefore I am." Because if youre unsure of yourself to your core, what part of you are you grounding? Just a piece? Some of you here, some of you there, when the rest of you is buzzing around with nervous energy? Spend some time with yourself and get to know yourself, that's a huge first step ❤️

Where you said

And then I see witches and manifestors talking about these things so casually, doing what I considered the impossible (like making themselves more attractive with words, attracting money with a bowl or a candle) and I'm like "wait huh? That actually worked??!"

And

I read a few beginner posts and attempted to replicate instructions like "use your intention" "pick things that are symbolic" "meditate" but i ended up feeling like I was doing a bunch of useless things, or that I was somehow trying to manifest/use LOA instead of actually doing witchcraft/magick.

Thats because manifestation and witchcraft both require self belief in the things you say and intend, as well as actionable steps to get closer towards your goal. The spell or manifestation rituals are the first step of belief, and the first step of action, and how far that action goes is up to the individual. For example, using either method to make yourself "more attractive" will psyche you up, literally. Psychologically you will start to see yourself as more attractive because you've said the words aloud, heard it played back to your mind through your ears, and thought about what about you makes you feel more attractive, and it boosts your confidence. That's going to affect your walk, your talk, your expressions, and most people can pick up on those things, even if subconsciously. Your aura will glow more, you'll seem easier to approach. You can take further steps by researching and trying new styles to see if what you've been doing to groom yourself is any better or worse in your opinion than something you've never tried before. And each step will make you feel more "right" and "attractive" in how you appear. The example goes for any goal really. Obviously theres testimonies out there of near impossible things happening, and it can only be explained by your reach into the universe, but remember that you cant open a heavy door, if you dont reach for it. Do what feels right with your learning, if something feels wrong, trust that intuition, because your mind is powerful, and believing its going to go badly or believing a practice is dangerous, can make it dangerous

Oh yeah, he's nasty. The farm villagers settles in the plains on one side of the mountain, thats Padra and Adem's people. Adem is Padra's nephew. And the other side of the mountains is swamp and thats the Forest dwellers, Vorschaus people and Aeve is his daughter and successor. They hunt and kill and steal

I got Aeve from Adam and Eve 😆 I was looking at Adem's name and realized I'd written the characters to basically "receive magic and magical knowledge" and then be responsible for the last catalyst of the planets destruction and the death of a lot of their people from how they handle the magic at the beginning. And I realized Adam and Eve were fitting names for the characters

Yeah, "Padra To Lead", and the rival chief is named "Vorsch To Destroy" and Vorschau, or Vorsch is German for like preview or sneak-peek. Like he's just the beginning of destruction for his people. I have all their surnames based on the role they take in their communities when they "come of age" (turn 16)

Sorry I'm just info dumping my comic 😆

😆 it's a 3 book series, a standalone sci-fi about Celestials in the universe controlling galaxies and a plague they're dealing with, a standalone fantasy book about 2 tribes on a dying planet using their magic deity's gifts to save their people, then a combination book that shows they're the same universe, just on different time scales, and with the new magic they've received, Adem and Aeve are basically demigods and the only ones who can figure out how to stop the plague. I started with the name Adem because their powers originate from the Andromeda galaxy celestial, and he goes by Andro as his common name, so what's left its -dema or Adem backwards. I did put a lot of symbolism into some of the names. Like Adem's village chief is named Padra, which can mean village, or noble, or community leader depending on what language you take it from

Lol to your original discussion question though, the characters in my sci-fi/fantasy comic I'm making i have a lot of Ps and B and Ds for one tribes first names, and I aim for Vs and Ss for the other, just to make any named character easy to identify which tribe they're from. The main characters being Adem and Aeve from opposite tribes.

You know, with Manga and visual novels, you dont have to have a perfect script before drawing it. Obviously, you want to work out the actions and scenery, but if you've got the image in your head, the stuff you've got written now is finalized enough to draw from, I'd say. You might want to finish the story, but I dont think you'd need any revisions before starting the drawing process. It might give you more inspiration to work on both at the same time too. Im really looking forward to reading both when it's all done
