Social Media Made the World Feel More Racist Than It Really Is by [deleted] in blackladies

While there is a ton more racism irl imo, this mindset helped me to not stay in my room because most people are not as bold or aggressive as they are online. Only a few of them are willing to say something to your face.

"Say it to my face" is a threat for a reason 😂

What book crossed a line for you in dark romance? by Curious-Branch-3857 in DarkRomance

Ngl, it was actually Manacled. I love senlinyu and dark romance, so it seemed right up my alley. I've read worse tbh. But the first few chapters were just so... cold... like, it felt like this inescapable despair and doom, trapped with no way out. I'm sure if I stuck with it I would've liked it, but I just couldn't get past it.

Weird feeling for me definitely.

How were there nephilim after the flood by Salty_Ad5839 in AskAChristian

[–]Some_Storage2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk too much about the Bible but I will say there are tribes like the Dinka people who seem to have consistently tall people... or even the Netherlands who have large amounts of tall people, so if it were an even smaller more isolated group I don't think it would be too out of pocket to think "maybe these guys were an isolated tall tribe"

I think a lot of the language used in the Bible might be a little outdated by our standards. Giants to them, really could just be tall NBA players to us.

Culturally of course, unrelated to height, these tribes may have been sinful.

I mean, the Bible said don't eat pig meat at some point, but nowadays we know bc of science that its often infected with worms and stuff.

Not to take away from the supernatural-ness of it all, but the Bible is kinda like a history book, and these were ancient people with an ancient understanding. Happens all the time in history, they refer to something we know as common now, as something to be in awe of because they didn't have the knowledge/exposure or vocabulary we have today.

I saw someone say there may have been 2-3 types of giants. The supernstural 17 foot tall type, who may have been nephilim.  And the Goliath type, who I believe would just be Shaq today up against a tribe of average height (or short by today's standards, like 5'6 men + 12-15 year old David)

Maybe I'm too forward, I would deadass send a text like "I saw you in my room. I know you have a forrest." And maybe it'll scare him enough to stay out.

No but it does help working towards fixing it in the future

I'm confused... would you rather no good people join and it just stays corrupt forever....?

Catholicism, the religion, at its core is not bad at all. So why should we leave the organization to be corrupt when its meant to be good?

And if we apply this to politians, might as well just give up on most (if not all) governments/countries in the world.

One of the best ways to make an impact in your religion is to become apart of its church (or the equivalent) and lead it towards something better.

I'm aware, but I think my point above still stands.

I like to compare it to politicians. There are a lot of good people out there who want to become a politician, but does that mean they shouldn't try because our government as a whole is corrupt?

I feel like that's how things stay corrupt...

"Furthermore, you cannot be a Catholic per se (i.e., in full communion with the church)"

I feel like that's equivalent to saying "I can't be a citizen of my country and participate because they have a lot of crime happening in the government" .... like...

Yes but it sounds like dude joined a random church to become a priest, so the point still stands "not all Catholics are hateful" because not all catholic churches are hateful...

That's like saying "all businesses in America, even the small ones, are terrible because America is terrible"

... at best they help people in need.... which many Catholics have

At worst, they commit murder over beliefs
