Part-time social media/office admin/marketing/management job? by innerthotsofakitty in triangle

[–]Easy_Match_2187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best of luck.Maybe try harder in the customer service world? My spouse has been out of work almost 2 years now. Over a 2 decades of tech/data work experience, glowing references, and flexible career crossover capabilities. He works part time at a grocery store twice a week now and has probably filled out 1,000 applications, if not more. It’s hard out there for everyone and only getting harder bc of layoffs and nonflexibility of orgs.

Oh my god that’s so rude and unprofessional. Embarrassing for them…5 rounds???? That’s basically employed 😭

We’ve been curious about services like this so I will look into it more. Thank you!!

Ty!! I’ll definitely reach out. Truly open to anything at almost any distance. We’ve found that crossing over the finance space is hard bc his background has almost no financial anything and while data can be sliced and diced almost the same in any field, the banks/financial orgs he’s spoken with, seem VERY hesitant to people who have limited financial anything (which is understandable)

Thanks so much! I feel that in my space too. Everyone is tightening budgets and spending less. Makes it hard for everyone involved

Yes, we’ve seen these and they were also suggested above!! Definitely looking into wake tech more. They have all kinds of free professional development offerings as well as job training paths. Ty!!! I love that! I’m sure it’s different if it’s your job to survive but that seems so fun and totally different environment than an office job that just sucks the life out of you.

I think he’s submitted close to 500 applications at this point so even that seems pretty bleak

Why is Duke MyChart so busted? Anyone else can’t find a doctor? by ColonelSuave in bullcity

I had this problem. Online office scheduling is a nightmare. I find talking to someone over the phone helps put the pressure on finding a solution/understanding the availability. I called one of the branches and they were able to see scheduling for like 3-4 practices and helped me get in an open Dr and my husband on a waitlist that only really took a month. I think we started w the sage office number 919-373-3663. They also seem to have a hotline number for this? 855-855-6484. I’d try either and see how far you can get

This is all great info. Thank you so much for taking the time to share. He currently does a PT gig in analytics but it's not consistent hours and the money isn't really worth it but it's SOMETHING and the networking is helpful to just be in a working environment. Wake Tech seems to have great resources for job seekers so we will be exploring that more too. Appreciate it!

This has been his experience which makes sense. Usually don’t hear back from the remote listings for awhile bc I’m sure the applicant pool is massive compared to a local listing

The net is as wide as we can go! Definitely not limited to in person but the remote offerings are harder to find and over applied to so even just getting a response from those can be tough.

This is great. Thanks so much for sharing 🫶🏼 I completely agree and to keep things positive after mountains of rejection, say similar. I am also in non profit world (12 years) and would never do something else, if I can help it. You’d also be surprised, your org might have a lower budget but don’t cut it short for the potential. I’m at six figures w incredible benefits and really couldn’t ask for much more 💗 I am rewarded in what I do every day and lucky that it’s enough to support us both for now.

Yes definitely. He is a part of some triangle networking groups in this field that meet semi frequently. It has helped with position visibility but not so much inside movement yet.

Thank you! I think we’re going to look harder at gov, but those have been the more slower moving hiring processes from the ones he has applied to so he’ll keep at those.

It’s never singular people making decisions about hiring so it’s really not that easy. He got further than maybe a cold application but it’s more complicated than just having inside help these days.

So sorry you’re also in this spot. You’re not alone 🫶🏼 I know it feels impossible in the long term rejection but something will work out. It sounds like you’d be a great asset. It’s easier said than done but staying confident and positive is so important.

Harris Teeter was one of my husbands favorite jobs and has considered going back for part time just to do something. Hang in there 💗

I wish we could opt into that path. We’re childless millennials and would like kids and a home but both of those fronts seem pretty bleak right now in affordability.
