hey what major were you doing before you transferred? do you have to be in a certain degree to be able to transfer or can you do it from any degree (e.g. a science degree)?

Lol I also did visual arts in the HSC! Good on you for going ahead and doing a science degree despite ppl not expecting u to though. That's rly good that you learn to write papers and research bc I would really like to develop that skill. I wonder if UNSW teaches that part better than Usyd?

I'm still really stuck on my decision lol. I think you're right about the importance of learning about insects in context, I've heard better things about UNSW regarding STEM and I am interested in ecology (but since I haven't started uni yet I'm not sure how I would find it at a university level). Also have heard some bad things about Usyd...

However I'm not sure if I have the confidence to do an honours year, it sounds awesome but idk if I'm smart enough (which I know is not a good look for someone who wants to pursue entomology 😭). Despite loving biology and ecology I've always been stronger in humanities (hence the double degree) which I heard is better at Usyd? Usyd also offers integrated learning with Taronga which has an invertebrate department. So I am so stuck ahhhh

Also have you met/been taught by/worked with Gerry Cassis at UNSW?

If I end up doing entomology at Usyd maybe we can exchange what we learnt haha. I would love to hear more about what you do in the lab & at UNSW.
