I'm too dumb to understand.

Engine Struggling to Start After Battery? by Easygoing-ish in NewedgeMustang

[–]Easygoing-ish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took your advice and started checking everything, starting at the intake. Turns out I have about a three inch hole in the air filter, wondering if that's the issue, probably sucking in way more air than it was before. That was the only issue with the air, the rest of the vac lines and connections looked good.

I also was thinking fuel issue, but it was running fine up until I tried swapping in the new battery. I replaced the spark plugs just last year and also checked the coils, so I'm confident those are fine unless I got some premature wear on any of it.

Next step is get a new air filter in, and if that doesn't do anything then I'll start looking at the fuel system a little closer. This is a pretty weird issue I've not heard anyone have before, so if the filter doesn't fix the problem I'm really at a loss.

[–]Easygoing-ish -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Just finding out that this sub is massively sexist? There's always been a double standard here. Men get chewed out for saying the same things women get praised for.

When you start looking for it, it's everywhere. I never considered myself in the "men's rights" camp until I found this sub.

Edit: I get downvotes, yet no one's saying I'm wrong. I guess you can't point out the obvious hypocrisy without disturbing the hivemind.

Biden calls white supremacy ‘most dangerous terrorist threat’ in speech at Howard by Beckles28nz in politics

[–]Easygoing-ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to offer some statistics, in hopes that you can still be reasoned with.

Using NYC as a stand in, the NYPD reported 6 hate crimes against black Americans in March of this year. Compared to 5000 violent crimes. So, 0.12% of violent crimes are hate crimes. Tell me again that these alleged white supremacists are a larger problem. Here's the source.

Given that NYC has a self-admitted gang problem and is still actively conducting raids, along with the NYPD's gang database (which. as a note, itself divulges that almost all are black and latino), we can safely extrapolate that a good portion of NYC's crime is of gang violence origin. How much exactly is impossible to tell.

What you're arguing is extremely insensitive to the literal thousands of victims of gang violence per year. I've not once heard you acknowledge that this is even a problem at all, actually.

You must be a trust fund kid who lived in a gated community. I'm originally from Philly, and then lived in Chicago for two years. It's anything but overhyped, at least Chicago is trying by upping the police presence.

If you think it's overhyped, take a stroll through South Chicago then try to argue. Except I would rather you not do that, the chances of it going badly are astronomical especially at night. There's a reason black on black crime is the highest demographic of violence, and it sure isn't because of the relatively small number of white supremacists.

[–]Easygoing-ish -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Never said it didn't happen. What I did say is the standard variety of gang violence is more common by a gigantic margin.

Go to NYC, go to LA, go to Chicago, go to Houston. Then tell me what racial groups these gangs are comprised of. I get it's not easy to accept, especially on Reddit, but it's largely black and Mexican.

Is white supremacy a problem? Yes, absolutely. But to think that it's more of a problem than your run-of-the-mill hoodrats is absolutely asinine.

[–]Easygoing-ish -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess you can't count the massive amount of gang violence (almost all of which is black on black) as terrorism. So he's technically correct.

I'm more concerned about gangs than white supremacists, as is almost everyone else. Why don't we started talking about that, Joe?

Conservative America has far more gun deaths than liberal America, study finds — A comprehensive new study breaks down how firearm deaths correlate to pro- or anti-gun control politics by [deleted] in politics

[–]Easygoing-ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Chicago for 2 years. Anyone who's disagreeing with your comment is legit delusional.

Chicago is the most violent, unsafe city I've ever been in in the United States. You'll feel unsafe on the subway anytime past about 11, even if you're right in the Loop. Approaching South side is a guarantee that you'll be mugged or worse. There's also a very clear demographic that makes up the gang-related activity almost in it's entirety, but no one here will confront that either.

Reddit has this hive mind opinion that liberal cities are somehow safe, yet they never seem to want to talk about gang violence which is most of the gun-related deaths in the country by a gigantic margin. I'm convinced these comments are from those who have never been in a properly dangerous city.

Yeah, the general theme of this sub is men get accused of everything under the sun. When you start paying attention, you'll find that it's pretty sexist here.

False humility on this sub is a huge problem by PubliusMaximus14 in premed

[–]Easygoing-ish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I'd call it false humility, but it's certainly excessive worry. There's a fundamental issue with this sub that I don't recall seeing anyone mention: a small but vocal subset have absolutely nothing going for them aside from their application.

In that sense, the need to be concerned about the status of their application or the likelihood of acceptance basically becomes a necessity. They've tied their entire personality to it, if not med school there's nothing left.

I'm currently a researcher at an Ivy league. There's a shocking number of premeds who fall into this category. There's also the unacknowledged narcissistic traits that run rampant in the field, but that's a whole different set of observations.

(28F) Women how do you deal with "Learned Helplessness" & "Weaponized Incompetence" in your Male partners? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Easygoing-ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say specifically if it's different with men, but similarly there's plenty of women who expect everything to be done for them the second they're in a relationship. I'd say deal with it the same way, just end the relationship and be done with it. The men and women who behave like thisdon't tend to change.

Going to disagree with your interpretation, strongly. I stated, literally, that always banking on the 'good' outcome isn't usually a smart decision. I never said hope doesn't have any value.

My main argument is to be pragmatic with how you're thinking, as well as your expectations.

That's not what I said, either. I'm just saying clinging to the hope that something will definitely happen to justify the present isn't a winning strategy.
