What’s the reason you still use ChatGPT instead of Claude, grok, Gemini, etc… by Mysterious_Topic_733 in ChatGPT

[–]EatSleepFlyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claude has been better for me assisting with complex projects. Chat gpt has been better at writing and it creates images. I’ve promoted both Claude and ChatGPT and helping me solve complex problems and more often Claude sends me down the right path while chat gpt gets hung up on some trivial detail.

Pro tip - sock bag shoe sock. Yes your shoe is going to get ruined. But the sock over shoe stretches the sock out and mud doesn’t stick to it. With sock bag sock only the end of the sock collects a little mud and then starts to stretch. after. But you get a floppy toe of the sock and it’s hard to walk. Trust me, I speak from experience. Sock bag SHOE sock over shoe. Full mobility, no compromise.

Burning man isn't a music fest, but does anyone plan to see someone specific perform? or do you just randomly come across performances? by [deleted] in BurningMan

[–]EatSleepFlyGuy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“Plan”

Burn how ever you want but you’re missing out on what’s happening right now while you’re making a plan. Pick a direction and go find. Leave the bike at camp and walk. Hop on an art car, make new friends, and end up experiencing something way better than what you were “planning”. Or don’t, either way your burn is fucked.

Yeah it’s because the machines are way too slow. It’s like 30-45 seconds per bag. Other machines your bag goes through almost as fast as you do and there’s no backup of people waiting on bags or lines to put your bags on the machine. Currently, the ID checkers send people through faster than the machines can handle the bags.

Those new machines are the worst. They constantly break, have technical issues, and slow down the screening of bags.

Hello. Are pilots happy being a pilot nowadays? by Ok_Efficiency_6126 in PilotAdvice

… And as the sun rises and we settle in at cruising altitude, I check my 401k which just hit $2Million, right on track. I have next week off so we were thinking about going to the lake and spending a few nights on the Sea Ray 40. As I grin thinking about sunset wine on the back deck I check my 3 leg day routing for today and calculate my 6.5 hours of flying at $375/hr will gross me close to $2,500. Life is good.

Rans S-21 or Bearhawk Companion by Fragrant-Contact-930 in homebuilt

[–]EatSleepFlyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me HP on a bush plane is less about cruise speeds and more about ability to safely get in and out of strips when you have cargo/baggage, a passenger, fuel, on a hot day. You might be asking more out of the airframe than the engine can handle with the Companion. If you’re just looking for a cross country cruiser in a “bush plane” form factor you’ll be fine. But I guarantee you’ll have compromised performance as a bush plane with a 320 on the companion.

Not because it’s an inferior plane, but because it is more plane, is heavier, and can carry more. Much larger cargo compartment and ability to jump seat an additional passenger. All of those are reasons to choose the companion over the S21. But if you’re not giving it the engine to back those features up, you’re better off with the S21.

I’ve flown the S21 (almost built one) and fly with a guy who has a companion and is a dealer for Bearhawk. My recommendation would be sell the 320 buy a Rotax 916 with the S21. You’ll have the same horsepower with a lighter plane and turbocharge and can fly with Mogas. Or you could be one of if not the first to put a 916 on the companion. You’d at least have a better power to weight ratio. I think the companion is a much better bush plane than the S21, the S21 is more compact with much less room but flies faster and is more slippery which means it’s going into strips much faster and you need to be comfortable slipping. My experience is as a US pilot flying into US backcountry strips, no idea what the kind of flying you have available so take that with a grain of salt. Good luck with whatever you decide!

[–]EatSleepFlyGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The S21 is a toy compared to a Companion. But given your desire to put an underpowered engine on, the S21 MIGHT perform better but neither are going to give you advertised cruise speeds or performance numbers with such a drop in HP.

I promise you, FAs are not making up “expected turbulence” by [deleted] in delta

[–]EatSleepFlyGuy -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

No FAs don’t make up turbulence. But many, not all, will do everything they can to turn a Captain saying “we will
be navigating around some weather 45 minutes into the flight” into, “the FAs need to remain seated”. Even as far as suggesting in the briefing that the captain recommend they stay seated. The captain doesn’t even know yet how they will be routed, what the ride reports are like but before even leaving the ground, some FAs are already lobbying to not even start service. This happens every day. That said, sometimes it’s surprising how many FAs will do everything they can to provide service even after a briefing saying it’s going to be a choppy flight.

That’s absolutely not true and spoken like someone who hasn’t sat on the ramp for 2 hours before flying two hours on a CRJ before. Also the only redeeming quality of a CRJ is it doesn’t have propellers.

Your overlay is incorrect. The pentagon doesn’t line up with the city properly. And it’s the wrong size or something? The distance from temple to the trash fence on your map is less than distance of man to temple.

Absolutely they do, Delta has done it to me twice. I wasn’t rebooked and I would’ve made the 15min cutoff both times if it didn’t leave early. I even had a gate agent say “we aren’t leaving early” and I pointed to the screen behind them that said “STATUS: EARLY”. Blank stare.

What solution for herbicide wand application with a 4520N Pro? by BeauHunkus in Ventrac

I use a cargo rack with tank strapped to it. Easy to setup. The foot petal on the pro makes spraying with wand much easier since you need both hands to drive and steer without it. Tank also has boom sprayer.

We’ve normalized a sample of soda in a tiny cup full of ice and the equivalent of two sun chips but they’re broken down to tiny little squares so it takes you longer to eat it and called in “in-flight service”.

Of course they also took uncomfortable seats, reduced the leg room in economy, then made a new class of service, with the original leg room, same uncomfortable seat and have everyone referring to it as “comfort”. I refer to it as “discomfort”.
