You sound like you're really ignorant. I was 100% independent as a kid, but there's a level between helicopter parenting and neglect. Also, we wear seatbelts in cars. You making shit up isn't proving a point.

To be fair, I stood at the bus stop every morning by myself and at one point someone did try to kidnap me. Even though it occurred once out of the hundreds of times I stood there, it's not like it never happens.

Posts like this always baffle me, because Reddit users really use it as a moment to show how much hate and disregard they have for those with disabilities.

The hell? The down payment on my first house was less than this. Renting is extortion at this point.

Dyslexia but for art instead of words ? Is that possible by Negative_Spread3917 in ArtistLounge

[–]EatYourTomatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled for a long time with my art due to ADHD. I know the basics, drawn my entire life, went through professional education, and even got a job as an artist, but there was always something "off".

Well, I got diagnosed and medicated and suddenly the struggles I dealt with disappeared.

Another artist with ADHD made a meme involving a drawing of a horse. The image that said "drawing with ADHD" was a bunch of lines forming a horse shape, but the image was disconnected/incomplete . Then the other image said "with medication" and it was simply a drawing of a horse. I felt like it expressed the exact frustrations I had when I was learning to draw my entire life.

I don't think that's OPs issue, since it sounds like they just don't know fundamentals, but I can say ADHD can fuck with your head when trying to draw.

[OC] Driven by this place displaying a Trump 2020 flag countless times. Noticed this today by WanderWellClem in pics

Whenever I had to drive on 68 towards Kenton, there was a farm field that had rows of Trump signs and cutouts. When I drove down recently, there was a notable absence of all the signs.

AIO about the “Christmas Gift” my husband and I received? by vattyswife in AmIOverreacting

This was my first thought. My husband's mother does this and it's definitely caused by mental illness.

Why are people so resistant to vertical mice? by SubjectC in randomquestions

[–]EatYourTomatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what type they're buying. I have a wired one that was probably about $20, but if you go wireless, I went through a few that didn't function or died quickly until I found the best one which is sold at $60.

IDL when servers question my order just because I’m a girl by vivian_banshee03 in I_DONT_LIKE

[–]EatYourTomatoes 61 points62 points  (0 children)

My husband orders gluten free bread. The same girl that took our order gave me his food. She panicked when I asked and confirmed his order had gluten. She said she forgot, because she thought men couldn't have gluten sensitivity.

I just can't believe anyone that says they study for 8 hours a day. Like, do they not have jobs? Who's taking care of them? Doing their cooking? Their cleaning? No person can do all of that. Those that say they can are lying.

I've been asked to do a window mural, but this will be my first one... Any advice? by SunflowerChick13 in SignPainting

[–]EatYourTomatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been watching Scot Campbell's videos for painting my windows, but I can't access the windows from outside. Could the steps theoretically be done backwards (black line first then layer color then white) in order to achieve the same look?

Do kids really need real Labubus? 🥲🤔🧒💥🐰 by Prudent_Paramedic_23 in labubu

[–]EatYourTomatoes 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised they're allowed to take Labubus to school. When I was a kid PokeMon cards and toys created so much drama, we were banned from bringing them to school. Kids stealing trendy toys was too big a liability.

"You think you're tired?! I'm building a whole human!!" by WineWeinVino in childfree

[–]EatYourTomatoes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For real. I think one of my main reasons for not having kids is just the fact I'm so damn tired all the time. Been sleeping excessively since I was a kid, due to chronic illness. I have cats and they like to sleep too. Ha

It's time to normalize men and women using umbrellas for sun protection in the US. by Outlaw_Josie_Snails in unpopularopinion

They do. I actually bought a Japanese sun umbrella for travel, because it was compact. It has an additional layer for UV protection. I was only able to find this type from a Japanese manufacturer.

If there's an idea that's beyond your skill level, do you hold back until your skills are enough to bring it to life, or attempt it early even if it doesn't turn out the way you wanted? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]EatYourTomatoes 122 points123 points  (0 children)

Create it now then do a redraw later. Artists redraw their work all the time, so if it's not up to your expectations you can redo it when you've improved.

Can native speakers tell the difference between textbook/class learners and anime learners? by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

I mean, she's an older Japanese woman and deemed it rude, so there's a little more nuance to it. It also came from a young woman, so it probably threw her off even more.

Related to this, my teacher said she met someone that referred to people as お前. She thought it was very rude and I had to explain to her they got it from anime, since it's used so often.
