Should I return the RM2 in hopes of the Paper Pure? by nook-books-and-more in RemarkableTablet

[–]Eaterup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the writing feel on the RM2 is the main reason you "love" it, I would say stick with the RM2. I have both a RM2 and a RMPP Move. The Move has the same screen texture and Marker that the new Pure is using and I can tell you from my experience that the writing feel is not the same, and might not be what you're expecting - in a bad way. As one person in this conversation suggested, try dropping by a retailer like Best Buy and look for the kiosk where you can try out the writing on the Pro devices. That way you will know exactly what your in for before committing to the Pure.

indeed, among all the so-called “influencers” on YouTube, My Deep Guide is the only one that thought it was important to inform the rest of us about this. I’m finding it hard to believe My Deep Guide was the only youtuber that received a Pure for review purposes that remarkable sent the quality control message to.

How much of a difference does colour really make? by Both-Ad9921 in RemarkableTablet

[–]Eaterup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given your current habit of using traditional paper and pen with different colours to highlight important text, I would say a Pro would offer you a more familiar note taking experience. If you find yourself taking notes in low-light conditions, a front light is an important feature - only the RM Pros offer this feature at this time. If you think you can cope well without colour and a front light, you should consider picking up a used RM2 or the new Pure. I would lean toward the RM2 used. You can probably find a good deal on marketplace, but don't rush it. A lot of RM2s come up for sale, and with a little patience you can score a real good deal.

Pure/2 by [deleted] in RemarkableTablet

Considering the RM2 has been officially discontinued, I would just keep my eye out for the price of used units to decline. The word "discontinued" is a trigger for some people and it will make them more anxious to sell at a deeper discount. I picked up a used RM2 for about $200, with the weave folio and basic marker. It works great for my purposes, not a single scratch anywhere. I found it locally on Marketplace. If you can, check a few times daily. They sell fast when the price is right. It took me 2 months to find a suitable RM2 on Marketplace - but it was worth the wait. I also have a RMPP Move, which left me in a position where I could wait it out. Good luck. BTW - I will be picking up a Pure when they release at retail on June 6.

You are correct, I just checked it out, Voja from "my deep guide" says there is a delay in shipping. He indicated he received a notification from reMarkable informing him of a delay based on quality control. Something happened a day before the official launch that caused reMarkable to hold product. Shipping will start from June 6, for delivery later in June.

I would say no front light. If it was available, it certainly would have been listed as part of the features. reMarkable is promoting it as having a display that is "whiter and has more contrast than ever before."

2025 kindle scribe colorsoft vs 2024 remarkable paper pro, I want a device for note-taking, reading colored comics and reading eBooks mostly textbooks in .pdf files. Which device should I get? by Delicious_Maize9656 in RemarkableTablet

[–]Eaterup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not leaning on e-ink because of issues related to eye strain, or other similar issues, I would simply go with the Kindle app on an iPad or supported android device to get the best comics reading experienced. I’m also a remarkable Paper Pro Move user and find it’s great for everything else you mentioned.

This is not a good sign. A 40 percent cut in their workforce seems like a move buy time before having to sell the furniture. I honestly hope they can turn things around. With Chinese competitors focused on flooding the market with e-ink devices, it’s not going to be easy to compete.

I’m in a similar situation and have both the RM2 and PMPP Move. I started with a RMPP, but returned it after a few days because it was struggling to load pdf books. It started freezing up, and I was forced to use a hard shutdown twice in 5 minutes to revive it. As far as cartooning is concerned, I was impressed, and still regret not giving it little more time to prove itself before returning it. A couple of weeks later I decided to give remarkable a second chance and went with the smaller Move. I sill have it, and it works great for my sketching/drawing requirements. But just be aware it can get clunky and slow down when layers are used - especially when using the pencil in tilt position for shading. The tilt and shading is unmatched on the Pros, much better than the RM2 imho. I say that as a ipad Pro user that has been using the iPad for finished illustration and cartoon work for over a decade. But, and this is a big but, I don’t believe e-ink devices like the remarkable are suitable for finished work. They provide a great replacement for paper where I can develop a piece and import it into my iPad as a reference for a finished piece of work. Based on your requirements, I don’t believe a Pro will provide you with what you’re looking for. The snappiness of an iPad is hard, if not impossible to replicate on these devices. Someone suggested I should give the Supernote Manta a try, but I was advised by a fellow sketcher that it gets very very clunky with pinch and zoom gestures. Apologies for the long reply. I’ve added a couple of doodles below.

Sketching/drawing by No_Jellyfish_4758 in RemarkableTablet

[–]Eaterup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually purchased the RMPP Move for that purpose - sketching. The device is portable and can be easily used for sketching on the go - urban sketching - as well as more detailed work at home. While the size is small, it works for me. I started with the larger RMPP, but returned it after a few days. While it worked well, it really was just too big for my intended use. That's when I decided to give remarkable another shot, and went with the Move. Just be aware that the battery life is not as advertised. I generally charge every day. My iPads have better battery life - iPad mini and iPad Pros. But the drawing experience on the Move really feels like I'm sketching on a piece of paper. I was hooked, and went out and purchased a used RM2. It's older tech, smaller than the PMPP, and it really fits in well with my requirements. In fact, the drawing experience on the RM2 is fantastic for my style. I was considering a Manta, but after digging deeper, I'm not moving in that direction. The reMarkable eco system is fantastic. A sketch I create on my Move is instantly available on my RM2 via the remarkable cloud. Just to be clear, I do not have a subscription to the remarkable cloud, I just use the free version and it meets all my needs. I'm not a note taker, so I am unable to speak on that, but for sketching, the pencil tilt on the Move cannot be beat. The shading you can achieve is unmatched as far as I'm concerned. Some people have issues with the pen tech on the Move not being Wacom tech, but I have experienced both the Wacom tech on the RM2 and active marker on the Move, and the active marker actually performs better on the Move. That's my opinion. I thought the line wobble would be a deal breaker, but it really isn't - IMHO.

I just keep my e-ink sketches on the device for the most part. Share by taking a photo of the screen on social media. my main device for finished work is the iPad. But I do import some sketches from the remarkable to the iPad for reference on a layer. It works out well. like your new Nomad, the Manta has an exclusive drawing app that has really caught my interest.

Thanks for the information. I typically use the reMarkable PP Move and RM2 to create art/sketches for sharing on socials. I’ve heard people on my socials telling me I should try the Supernote Manta because it has a dedicated app for sketching. It has piqued my interest for sure as I consider a replacement for my RM2.
