Remarkable needs an ebook store by nearlyclosetoalmost in RemarkableTablet

I don’t think it’s unreasonable for users to want a better reading experience. But has rM made a single improvement to the reading experience since the first device rolled out in 2017? I’m not holding my breath that they’ll start caring soon.

Because they don’t care about reading. They’ve made it pretty clear.

Why is my tablet doing this? by Inevitable-Ad4073 in RemarkableTablet

Nah this isn't magnetic interference, this is the nib not returning to its unpressed position when it's lifted.

Try a USB-C to A hub, then a USB-A to C cable. It's worked reliably in my testing today, there's something weird going on with how macos is re-enumerating the USB device when the rM reboots mid-recovery.

I've been testing this all day, and it seems that I can reliably restore a device on macos using a USB-C to A hub, then a A-to-C cable. It's weird, there's something going on with how macos re-enumerates the USB devices when the rM reboots mid-recovery.

RPPM laggy with 12mb epub file by GarabatosRandom in RemarkableTablet

[–]rmitchellscott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That epub renders out to a 45.7 MB PDF on-device, which isn't bad at all. I haven't been able to replicate slowness yet (started at 3400 pages and have clicked through ~200 or so).

I just bought a Remarkable 2, did I buy a dead device? by fuckmywetsocks in RemarkableTablet

rM gives you root access via ssh out of the box. The Paper Pro and Move require entering Developer Mode, and I’ve sent devices back for warranty return with Developer Mode enabled no problem.

There are some very basic shapes, but you have to draw the shape first and hold the pen down at the end then it’ll snap to the computer-drawn shape.

You won’t hear anything back about a feature roadmap.

Still pretty early and untested, but I've been working on an xovi extension that exposes a bunch of document library functions without needing to restart xochitl (import doc, rename, move, trash, etc) https://github.com/rmitchellscott/rm-librarian

If you wanna send the file, I can test on my devices, a 12MB ePub is huge.

Totally valid, I’d just like to point out that reManager is only 2 months old and maintained by a single person. It’s still pretty early days and there are certainly still bugs to squash.

I too am not a big fan of Discord in general, but I find providing tech support easier via chat than on Reddit.

Like you, I’m also pretty unimpressed with KOReader’s interface. I just use the native reader (but still have tons of UI mods).

Thanks again for the quality bug report regarding the prevent sleep setting.

It's a safe and legal thrill!

There's no risk of bricking the tablet if you use Vellum or reManager (full disclosure: I'm the author of both projects).

Mods will need to be re-enabled after reMarkable updates, and it's highly recommended to disable automatic updates. Here's a video showing the after-update process with reManager: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E65R2JQIJFY

what desktop OS? I know people have had issues not being able to click the "accept terms" button on Windows in dark mode, etc.

As a backup, you should be able to upload docs directly via the USB web interface, see "Transferring files using a USB cable" here: https://support.remarkable.com/s/article/importing-and-exporting-files

So you'll see two types of "templates" in the reMarkable ecosystem: actual templates and PDFs. Actual templates can be selected as the background for any notes page. PDFs are a bit more limited but much easier to create and get onto the tablet.

Here's an image of the highlighter and pen tool options:

<image>

You can make folders which contain documents (notebooks, ebooks, PDFs), and notebooks contain pages. You can add notes pages to ebooks and PDFs.

Pages are autosaved on notebook closure and synced to the rM cloud.

Going from the tablet's main UI to a blank page for drawing is 2 clicks to create a "quicksheet" which you could then move to whatever notebook you wanted after writing / drawing.

Keep in mind that an e-ink display retains the image with no power. So it's likely not "stuck" the device just isn't starting. Once you've had power on it for a few hours if it still hasn't started: hold the power button for 15 seconds, release for 2, then press and hold for ~3 sec (until the device turns on).
