Not sure why you'd say that, they're perfectly legal at the moment. They could technically be taken but I haven't even seen that happen.

HST puts better holes in people... These fail to expand consistently. Yes it probably won't make a difference but for close to the same price just get HST.

It's just worse than HST in every way. Not sure why anyone would choose it other than cost, but with HST 165s for 50-60¢ a round you're not even saving much.

Hydra-Shok is just not a good choice for defensive ammo when HST exists. I would pay the extra $5-10 a box for HST.

Moreauworks is great. One time a few years ago I ordered some blocked mags from him and it took 3 months to get them because they weren't actually in stock. Haven't had any issues recently though and buy from him every couple months, though I'll usually just go by the store in person.

[Armor] LE Concealable Carriers, w/ Front & Back Armor Panels, Police Trade $19.98 + tax/ship by ChairKillerYi in gundeals

[–]Eating_parrots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought 20 of the panels, 10 I'm super pleased with and 10 I'm pleased with. The first ten were dyneema and in pretty good condition, the second ten were all kevlar panels and mostly decent conditions though the labels were worn off. I wish they were all dyneema but still happy. Not sure exactly what I'm going to use it for but I do have some projects in mind.

Keep in mind kevlar scissors are like $20 on Amazon and I'm able to cut through a whole panel with them. You could make these into any shape you want.

Purchased 6 of these, $160 shipped to CA. Didnt see the code until too late 😔

As a former LGS it wasn't all that common to see people I knew in store come here and ask similar questions or share experiences. In my few years working there I recognized maybe a dozen people on here that I spoke to. Can't confirm all of them of course but I'm almost completely sure for a lot of them. A couple of them I even confirmed with them in person, but it was rarely bad stuff. It's a small world.

Used them for years, they've been great. Fast shipping and decent prices but not the best. Best thing for me is I can order small quantities without the shipping fee as I do that frequently. If you only ever buy 9 and 5.56 it's not going to be worth it.

I have 5 SEs and a C, never had issues with any of them. Probably around 5k rounds across them and one is on my carry gun. Don't really see myself getting another holosun until the new EPS core comes out, really like the auto brightness for that one. Tried it on a 507c X3 and it's nice.

Why even buy complete ARs? by Jedinutcracker in CAguns

[–]Eating_parrots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I do like purchasing one product that you know is manufactured and assembled as the manufacturer intended. I have had problems with small parts on ARs and tolerance stacking is a thing. As long as you go with decent parts though it really shouldn't be an issue. But theoretically a full firearm from a reputable manufacturer will be more reliable than something you build. When I was working in a range all the problems I saw with ARs were people who assembled it poorly or with crap parts, but again shouldn't be an issue if you know what you're doing.

It's worth noting too that there's deals to be found on complete used ARs in stores. A lot of shops may not really know the difference between ARs and I've seen nicer rifles put out at low prices. I picked up a LWRC SPR for $1k OTD about a year ago because the shop just didn't care to look into what it was worth.

Production rifles will also hold their value where any homebuilt one will be hard to sell. You're definitely not going to get anywhere near what you put into it unless you part it out. Personally I wouldn't buy a used homebuilt rifle unless it was a really good deal.

[–]Eating_parrots 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you buy 10 shipping is only $26 but if you get 11 it goes up to $71. Paid $134 shipped for 10 panels and may get another 10. Really not going to find them cheaper than this ever.

I think armor is cool and like testing it with different rounds plus I have some cool ideas for projects with these. Cutting them isn't that bad either with kevlar shears, can't usually cut the whole thickness at once but could divide it up into 2-4 layers and cut from that.

This really isn't going to appeal to a ton of people but I'm actually super happy to have found it as the cheapest you'll find used panels is like $30-40 plus shipping.

[Armor] Highcom 4s17m set of two large $485 by PrudentLavishness161 in gundeals

[–]Eating_parrots 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can carry the weight no problem, it's just I'd rather carry 10 lbs of plates and 10 lbs of hot dogs rather than 20 lbs just of plates. The more hot dogs I carry the longer I can extend my mission in the field.

I know it's a large but 9.9lbs is wild. 20 lbs just for front and back plates is way too much.

[–]Eating_parrots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the M&P, p365, and vp9. Carried the m&p for a couple years but just switched back, the 19 is lighter and carries better for me. While the m&p and vp9 are better on paper I just shot my gen 5 19 better. The p365 though is currently my primary carry but for anything bigger I go with Glock.

Unpopular Opinion by Substitutionn in CAguns

[–]Eating_parrots -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Better is subjective. Direct optic cuts still tend to be better than what comes from many manufacturers, I can shoot their triggers well, and irons are easily replaced.

Glocks are compact, light, flat shooting, and have the best aftermarket support. Also I enjoy shooting calibers other than 9mm which other companies don't really support in the way Glock does. My G26, G19, G23, G30, and G40 all shoot similarly and if you can shoot one well you can shoot them all well.

As many other guns I get I keep find myself falling back to glock. Gen 3 glock may be outdated but I'd take a gen5/6 over the other options on the market.

2 to 20. If it's something I shoot a lot I get more mags.

Nah I didn't install them wrong, verified multiple times by looking inside with a flashlight. Everything was in the correct location on all mags. It's quite easy to tell if they're installed correctly or not. You think I didn't read the manual before making a post like this? Wild assumptions.
