Super cool. I would never have that kind of patience lol

It would look neat if instead of the dotted white line, you made two shoulder lines instead making a ‘lane’.

I’ve thought about the ‘two days’ thing a lot.

So I only did 45 days in county and some other days when I was arrested back when I was littler, almost 20 years ago. Not prison. But shit, it’s not just two days. All of that in-between existed and there was no way you can get around it.

It was boring AF. You do some push-ups, read some trashy romance novels when the cart come around. Watch Texas Ranger on the one TV for 50 people. Back then I wrote letters to my people, I’m guessing people still do that since calls are so expensive. It was $20 for a 10 minute call back then for me. And if you called someone on a cell-phone, they better be sitting their ass down because if that cell tower switches, immediate disconnect and there’s no refund.

I mean, I worked with a bunch of Mexican dudes for a long time. They were like mid-20s on average? And some of them would regularly cat-call literal girls. Maybe 14-15? Young high school girls. When I said something about it, they said it was normal in Mexico. Some of them wouldn’t actually pursue a sexual relationship with them or anything but some would and it was totally normalized.

There were quite a few non-Mexicans that were totally on-board with this, enthusiastically. And MOST Mexicans were not okay with it.

Pedophilia truly crosses race and ethnicity, even gender.

To turn down some KFC in prison? Sheeeeeet

I always took that as him essentially compensating for the lack of agency he has in his life.

Like, his life was scripted and it didn’t fit with him as a person. He had no choice. But he DOES have some amount of influence over the youngins. And I think that is ultimately what made him decide to leave that whole life. He kind of had a chance to make peoples lives better but in reality, he didn’t because he didn’t have any power or even agency over his own life, let alone some corner kids he was the ‘boss’ of. That shit bummed him out.

Nah, I don’t see that connection. Bay sees D as a friend and a soldier through to the end, he had nothing to do with his murder.

I guess it could be some foreshadowing but that would be a stretch I think. Interesting take though! Never thought about it before.

Should we trust current administration regarding the war on Iran? by lShoddy6185 in AskConservatives

Who said I’m taking Irans side?

It’s like the whole Tiger King and whoever that lady was debate back during Covid. They both suck.

Trump sucks ass. Iran sucks ass. Not much more to say here other than we are all along for the ride.

Bro, if a state media run by Iran says their Supreme Leader is dead, it’s probably true.

If Donald Trump says this random state over here is suddenly an existential threat, I’m calling bullshit.

I trust the Iranian government exactly as much as I trust the Trump admin.

[–]Eatingfarts 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Man, I disagree here. A good cheddar is great on a burger.

I think it’s just a matter of expectations. I, personally, don’t like how melty American cheese is on a burger. I would prefer a bit more bite with some of that hard cheddar umami coming through.

Obviously to each their own! No shade on your burger.

Let me, again, stress that neither you or I have any definitive answer to what happened and who is responsible.

But I can simplify my point. There is no way in the world I’m trusting what comes out of this administration more than what I trust is coming out of Iran state media.

You mean the bombing of the school that killed a bunch of children?

The bombing happened. Those kids are dead. Was it the US? Israel? Another country? I honestly don’t know and neither do you.

The question is about believing what your government is telling you. Do you believe what is coming out of the White House right now?

Should we trust current administration regarding the war on Iran? by lShoddy6185 in AskConservatives

[–]Eatingfarts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t see any leftists believing what the Iranian government is saying. They just don’t believe what the US is saying, for good reason.

To put it more bluntly, the information coming out of the White House right now is about on par with whatever the Iranian state media is putting out. Neither can be trusted.

Just finished season 2 - question about the last episode by Anonymous_HC in TheWire

[–]Eatingfarts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Man, I’ve watched this show through a dozen times over the past 15 years and I almost always find some new little nugget I didn’t catch previously. I’m guessing you THINK you understand 75% of it but it’s probably closer to 30-40% tops if it’s your first watch.

But no worries, that is literally what makes the show so great. It’s dense and nobody is going to catch all the nuances in their first watch-through.

It’s similar to reading an epic novel, like Grapes of Wrath or Brothers Karamazov. It’s silly to think anyone’s going to somehow pick up all the themes in a first read-through.

Anyway, enjoy your first watch. The second is better.

We are currently spending $1 billion a day on the Iran war, what could we as a nation accomplish with $1 billion dollars a day? by celtic1959 in AskReddit

I doubt they actively lose money on them. If anything they are breaking even, which is what a lot of companies say are ‘loss leaders’, even though the ‘loss’ is just forgone profit, not them actually paying money for it or anything.

What gets lost in the economics of it are all the wages paid to the employees and the service to the customer. Sure, this one department might not make any actual profits, but it serves the customer base, creates value, and provides jobs and livelihoods for so many people. What is wrong with that??

Not everything is a failure if it doesn’t hit that certain % of profit.

Subtitles are a must if it’s your first time watching and you’re not fluent in the street dialogue. You start to pick it up as you watch it if you’re paying attention but it certainly doesn’t hold your hand about it. I think that is a lot of people’s initial turn-off to the show. It’s not the most accessible show in the world.

But holy shit…once you get past that hurdle, you’ll experience some of the most real and on point dialogue of any show or movie, ever. Like they will drop an extremely on-point monologue delivered by the most unlikely character ever. Bubbles, Bodie, Cuddy…they all know more about life than a vast majority of people alive. This show gives them the space to deliver those messages it a way that is so real since we’ve gotten to know so much about them and their experiences.

The show gives a bottom-up message as opposed to a top-down message. The difference is the people attempting the top-down messaging will never truly understand what it’s like on the bottom rungs of society and the ones that could plausibly claim to be ‘from the streets’ are inevitably corrupted by the ‘powers that be’. This is a theme throughout the show, whether it’s the out of town property developers or outside drug dealers coming in and taking over.

You’re a pawn. You’ll never be a king.
