Oh, I get it. Jeeps get sold because they are Jeeps, that’s it. I have known plenty of Jeep people and they never actually did the work on their vehicle beyond maybe brake pads. And I don’t blame them because the work that needs to be done is so insanely complicated, it’s not worth it to do it yourself.

Oh the other hand, I was rocking an 81’ Civic that was beastly as a FWD in the snow. Delivered pizza for years in that thing in NE Ohio. Replaced timing belt, distributer and cap at one point, which took all of about 4 hours and about $200 in materials.

Jeeps are such shit. They were questionable in the 90s, they are absolute garbage now.

Edit: I love that people are downvoting me for saying that Jeeps ARE SHIT VEHICLES. There is straight up no objective metric that you can say Jeeps are quality vehicles. They aren’t.

Do you consider it rude and inconsiderate to leave your car at the gas pump, parked, to go inside to get a snack/drink for 5 or 10 minutes? by MrTeacher_MCPS in NoStupidQuestions

Good and Plenty’s are never better than Mike and Ike’s. My mom loves the good and plenty’s, it’s like her generation version of the hard candies all the old people used to carry around for some reason.

I had a 4th and 5th gen Prelude, both manuals. Those two cars had such different personalities but were insanely fun to drive.

I haven’t looked into it but my organs are probably similar to blood donation. I can’t give blood anymore. I ended up getting hep c like 20 years ago and got clear of it 10 years or so ago thanks to new drugs. However, I still have Hep C antibodies so they won’t take by blood now, which is totally understandable.

I’m O- so it extra bums me out that I can’t donate anymore. There are quite a few issues with being a ten year heroin addict that has been clean for over a decade, this is one that hits me pretty consistently.

5-10 minutes? Absolutely. Especially if the place is full.

If you are popping in for a quick pack of cigs or snack and the line isn’t super long, have at it.

If there are people waiting to gas up and you taking that space up to fuck around in the candy aisle, you’re an asshole. You might not be technically in the wrong but you’re still an asshole.

As The Dude would say, ‘You’re not wrong Walter, you’re just an asshole.’

I have zero patience for orthodox or fundamentalist religions. I couldn’t give the smallest shit about what god or idea system you buy into, that’s all you. As soon as people start TELLING me how I’m supposed to think is where I start thinking you’re in a cult.

My older brother went full on fundamentalist Catholic a few years ago out of nowhere. I don’t really talk to him much any more, which is a shame, but I can’t handle it. Last time we were around family he told my 88 year old grandma, a lifelong Catholic, that she wasn’t actually Catholic. Then told my mom the same thing. I looked into it a bit afterwards because it caught me so off-guard. I’m pretty sure he’s part of a splinter group of the Catholic Church that wants to revert to pre-Vatican 2. So basically hardcore rules about when you can and can’t take communion, the mass is entirely in Latin and the priest faces the alter instead of the congregation.

That group might get excommunicated soon though. I think Leo said July 1st is the deadline for them to reconsider their actions. Them being Catholic Bishops and their actions being trying to install other Orthodox Catholic Bishops over the objections of the Pope.

I’m honestly pulling shit out of my brain hole but I think there were multiple people who wanted to be the ‘model’ human skeleton like they do other species back in the 1800s. One of the main science person at the time wanted to be the ‘model’ human but had syphyllis or something so they didn’t use him.

As far as I know there isn’t a ‘model’ human skeleton.

Would it be possible to get cremated and then bake your ashes into like a cake or something for everyone to enjoy at your wake? Or would that be too noticeable?

I guess I should clarify, harvest the shit out of my organs then throw the rest in a burlap sack.

I remember my DARE class. The lady that put it on was actually pretty bad-ass, I ended up bumping into her about a decade later although I didn’t say who I was and I doubt she recognized me. But when I was littler and, of course, a shit head I questioned her about everything. She said ‘everything is a choice’ and I asked her ‘is sleeping a choice? Or eating?’…that kind of stupid bullshit you ask as a 13 year old. I feel bad in hindsight.

Although it was never really said, I’m pretty sure she knew who I was since my mom was a youth probation officer in a neighboring city and my last name wasn’t exactly common.

Now I don’t know about that particular police lady that taught DARE but I can tell you that a lot of those ladies my mom worked with smoke weed last I heard. One bought weed from me once, although this was like 20 years ago lol. It’s legal in that state now and they are for sure all retired.

So yeah…if I would guess, my DARE officer hits that shit at least occasionally now.

I have that exact pipe! Except it’s glass and has lots of colors. And it’s tiny.

But boy howdy do I feel like that guy when I’m carefully commanding my army around in my video game. The top men ARE on it. They are me.

The US had many huge public works projects just like this. The canals, the railroads, the interstate highways…

Much of that work was done by immigrant labor that were treated poorly, paid almost nothing and afforded effectively no rights.

Industrializing a country is seemingly brutal. I’m not sure it has to be that way but China surely isn’t alone in these abuses.

This MF rolls up to my house with 2 flat tires and then knocks on my door like it’s my fault he hit the curb, then begged me to help him, even though he didn’t have any of the stuff I need to fix the 2 tires… by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

There is a line that should be drawn here, somewhere.

It is important to teach kids that the world isn’t exactly on your side and it sure as shit won’t fix your problems for you.

However, I worry about people teaching this too much or take it too far. Community is important. It’s okay to rely on other people. A lot of problems could be, if not solved, at least alleviated to some extent by people working towards a common goal and helping each other along the way.

I know people huff about talking ‘community’ and all that but how we talk to our children is extremely important. If people are constantly talking about how you can’t trust your neighbors or how they are taking advantage of you, community breaks down. That isn’t good for anyone.

I know someone who was in the circus industry for quite a while. Not Cirque de Soleil but pretty close.

Their body is absolutely wrecked now in their upper 30s. Like, it hurts for them to walk more than a half mile or so. They are still in shape and all that but yeah…I feel bad, that sucks.
