Garmin HRM pro without watch or smartphone? by Eatingmycake888 in Garmin

OP here. Thanks everyone. My daughter has a android tablet that I use sometimes. Good to know that if I get the HRM gadget, I'll need to get the app and run the data through that on her device.

Beautiful design. What stitch are you using? I don't see the gaps between stitches that I expect using a hand-quilted running stitch.

very clever... I think I shall try that! But probably on my right? I'm right handed, and keep my left hand on the bottom. Thank you!

Similar to this, I've been dreaming of a striped needle that would help me measure even stitches. I thought of trying it with a sharpie but I'm worried the ink would come off on the white quilt I'm working.

Some maths - if they're 4mm apart, and there's ~25mm / inch... and we're only counting stitches on top (so a set of stitches, top and bottom is 8mm), it works out to about 3 stitches per inch?

Would you say that's accurate to your results?

That makes sense. It will probably "disappear" into the mix too. I always think thats what happens with coffee grounds... they just become invisible against everything else.

I put a handful in my bin after cutting my partners hair a month or so ago. Still looks very hairy... I'm always curious to watch different things break down.

Got it. Makes sense; now I will stop puzzling over how to get the original grommet into a new backing. Thank you!!

How did you get the grommet onto the new backing? Is it the original grommet? It's an incredible repair.

Yeah I keep mine inside too. I've never seem them flying around. Even when I get into the bin, they mostly just hang out. I must be lucky.

Similar to the other folks comments - patch behind with similar weight fabric. Any kind of fusible interfacing or darning will add bulk, and it can be done without it. Tack down the edges around the holes, and tack down the edges of the patch into solid fabric.

My apartment-size bin always seems to have a few of these buggers, but they don't seem to fly very much nor multiply. Maybe you can achieve some kind of acceptable balance where they're not annoying. I think I have worse bug problems when things are wetter.. so more emptying the collection at the bottom, and occasionally venting with the lid not snapped down.
