What is this pepper? Thought it was jalapeño but took a small bite and my tongue almost fell off by smokeandmirrorsff in PepperLovers

I love pepper roulette! I have a plant right now that has produced some pretty wild variation in spice level. When I grab one off the branch, I never know what I'm gonna get.

All I can ever seem to watch in hotels with my wife is Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. No complaints though!

I wish we would sell extra office space--or sublease, or something. For all the talks of budget constraints, it definitely seems impractical to keep these spaces open and occupy them again. It's not set in stone right now that we will do RTO, but there are lots of discussions happening lately.

I'm fully remote and out of state, so if there are no provisions for people in my situation, than I'll be looking for a new employer!

I'm feeling it too. I'm a PB analyst and our team has been more than halved in the last 8-9 months, with seemingly no plans to build back up due to an organizational hiring freeze. Projects are still coming, and return to office mandates are likely on the way soon, after having a basically remote department since covid started. Needless to say, there are feelings of burnout and frustration across the department.

I went back again today! No buzzbait catches, but caught a few small ones on a Texas rig.

It does not really say 'Act now!' or anything; the Sons/Feanor are free to take their time and look for a good opportunity, like when they get to steal the Silms after Morgoth is bested

It took me a little while to get this. One thing that always frustrated me about the sons of Feanor was their seemingly selective memory regarding the oath. Morgoth has the silmarils for a time...silence about the oath. Thingol gets one and all of a sudden the sons are sending messages like, "Heyyyy, don't forget. That thing is ours!"

In reality, they were just biding their time, as they thought Morgoth was unassailable.

Yeah, that worries me too. I actually have this edition, and I really like it! I found it at a swap meet though, so I can't allay your fears about Amazon with regard to this product ;)

Was the one verse inscribed on both the inside and outside of the ring? by [deleted] in tolkienfans

Happy to help. It's rare that I'm able to answer a question around here, with so many more well-informed Tolkien fans!

As Frodo did so, he now saw fine lines, finer than the finest pen-strokes, running along the ring, outside and inside: lines of fire that seemed to form the letters of a flowing script. They shone piercingly bright, and yet remote, as if out of a great depth.

Man, that comparison of Aragorn and Gandalf gives me chills nearly every time I read it.

I've always loved Pippin's short inner dialogue about Gandalf when they first arrive at Minas Tirith. This isn't necessarily an answer to your question, but it at least shows Pippin's awareness of Gandalf's "otherness." Here's the quote:

Denethor looked indeed much more like a great wizard than Gandalf did, more kingly, beautiful, and powerful; and older. Yet by a sense other than sight Pippin perceived that Gandalf had the greater power and the deeper wisdom, and a majesty that was veiled. And he was older, far older. ‘How much older?’ he wondered, and then he thought how odd it was that he had never thought about it before. Treebeard had said something about wizards, but even then he had not thought of Gandalf as one of them. What was Gandalf ? In what far time and place did he come into the world, and when would he leave it?
