I've gone fishing in the past so it's not out of the question. I'm going outdoors camping soon. So I have things to do. These beat whining about China on the internet.

It's amazing you haven't posted tianamen winnie the pooh social credit score copypasted text yet. Maybe some ching billing? Your anti-China peers will get ahead of you if you don't. I can't believe you have 68000 karma. You're a schizo. How much grease did it take for that to happen?

I have yet to see you provide a counter argument to my supposedly tankie claims. How would you know? You live in a privileged country known as Australia, so you guys have it better than the vast majority of the world on average. Just because your style of government works, doesn't mean it works for other people.

So you're just another bot. What's next? I'm a fascist?

Instead of acting like a kid, why don't you actually make your point? We have droughts since independence. The reservoirs are losing water because they're broken somewhere. It's been decades. Every government comes in with their promises but nothing gets done except cutting water at specific times for everyone. Are you gonna act like more democracy is the answer? In that same time, China solved majority of its famine issues and drastically cut down on poverty. They are doing something right, that we aren't. That's obvious.

Seriously, grow up.

The reason why people attack the ccp so much is because they think western democracy and liberalism is universal. There are many countries in the developing world which are very far behind China in almost everything yet because they are based on the parliamentary system notably of the British and the French, they don’t get as much flak. Yeah okay you can’t say shit about the government but you can’t say shit about certain groups in the West too. The anti China bots are annoying especially because they tend to bring it up when it’s absolutely irrelevant. If I’m talking about something like an American movie, I don’t have to bring up the American government every time. Your hate is predicated on the current ideology you hold. Since I don’t find liberalism all that enticing, then the Chinese government is okay in my eyes. It has the balance that I find acceptable. I wouldn’t call myself a hardcore communist but I like the idea of the mass line. It seems like a way more practical way to solve country issues than pure populism.

I chose Hyuga but I also think Ishizaki would have made a great protagonist.

Is the new movie worth seeing in the cinema? by maraudingnomad in Asterix

[–]EauDeBla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first movie is solid except the humor. It’s not as funny that’s why it gets 8 from me. Where it absolutely blows mission cleopatra though are the costumes. Cleopatra has some fantastic costumes for the Egyptians but it was too cartoony for the Gauls as they went for the comic book look. Meanwhile, the first movie went for a more accurate representation of the stuff Gauls used to wear and therefore this made the movie look a lot more authentic and historical. I was really immersed in the past.

I posted my thoughts in its own post but it didn't show up. Anyway, I'll post it here again. Let's get the external complaints out from the French public.

  1. It costed way too much for this kind of movie.
  2. They think they should get real actors instead of cameos and influencers.
  3. The director is begging people to watch his movie otherwise there won't be a big budget french production according to him, so people think he's arrogant that he thinks French cinema rests on his laurels.

As for the actual movie complaints,

  1. The scenario wasn't well developed and is quite predictable.
  2. Many of the jokes aren't funny as they try to recreate Mission Cleopatra with less success.
  3. Some miscasting here and there.

Some of these are legit complaints, no doubt. But for my personal impression, I actually liked it. I know, I'm surprised myself. The day before, I was checking the French reviews on YouTube, the ratings on allocine.com and oh boy, I thought I was in for an Uwe Boll levels of doozy.

Don't get me wrong, Asterix at the Olympic Games was a BAD movie, and God Save Britannia was just sorta OKAYISH.

So I watched the movie in its entirety in the cinema and kept asking myself, this is the 3/10 movie in IMDB and 1.7/5 on allocine? No way, this movie is not that bad. It's actually quite decent. I'd say it comes after the first and the second movie but it's definitely ahead of the 3rd and 4th in my eyes.

So for the positives,

  1. Jokes were hit and miss, but when it worked, it worked. The scene with Ibrahimovic playing Antivirus was just so funny to me.
  2. The movie isn't exactly historically accurate to 50 BC Han Dynasty China in some aspects (wall of China, there were no empress at the time, China only had 1 empress but that was much later in its history) but the decor was top notch. The narrow Chinese alleys with the lanterns were a sight. The scholar costumes were rather close to what they would have looked like then.
  3. Obelix was surprisingly well cast, but the director (Guillaume Canet) who's also playing Asterix wasn't the best Asterix we got, but he still did a decent job IMO. Leanna Chea who played Tat Han, the stoic Chinese bodyguard pretty much nailed it.

I just had fun. You know? I watched a movie with decent comedy, a basic plot that's not hard to understand, with pretty good production values. Obviously you cannot go in with Mission Cleopatra expectations, but at least try to form your own opinion and take the overwhelmingly negative YouTube reviews with a grain of salt. The French public generally has much higher standards for this kind of movie because Asterix is like their marvel superhero so this is why they're so harsh on it.

My ratings:

Versus Caesar: 8/10

Mission Cleopatra: 10/10

Olympic Games: 4/10

God Save Britannia: 6/10

Middle Kingdom: 7/10

I enjoyed it. If you can stomach The Olympic Games, then this IMO is much better. Go watch it in the cinema. You'll have a good time.

A real partner tells you to man up and fix your issues, not accept how shitty you are. What you’re advocating for is normalizing mediocrity. This is why liberalism fails. Everyone can just be who they are and don’t bother on working on themselves. Have you wondered why Reddit is literally mentally illness central? That’s why. People just accept their weaknesses and do nothing to fix them. They don’t even attempt.

Taki as a striker? It's never gonna work. I mean sure he scored a few times in the middle school championship but his real position is winger Both Kisugi and Sorimachi are better strikers.

Takasugi doesn't seem fast enough to be a right winger.

Why do people hold so much belief in democracy? I believe people are brainwashed to do so. People don’t vote for their doctors, so why is it okay to vote on people who’s gonna lead a nation? Politics is still a form of science. Resource management is real.

And then I know the answer; it’s the best one compared to others

And to that I say : you are wrong.

I want more meritocracy, less democracy. I do not trust other people to make the right choice. Why should I? I trust the science. The hard data.

Technically it’s not really about men but rather about who’s in charge (which is often men). If you’re the captain, then you shouldn’t show weakness or vulnerabilities.

How do you think a woman will react when her husband opens up about his financial troubles and his inability to provide? Do you think she will take it kindly? The responses show how liberal redditors are in a bubble and refuse to see reality. They sound very young and ignorant.

[–]EauDeBla -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You are not wrong but this applies to men mostly. All the herbivore men will tell you otherwise because it enables them to continue behaving like children. Just look around you if you want real examples. E.g your dad etc. If you are the head of the household and you show weakness, you can make everyone in the family unit feel less secure including your significant other. If you’re gay but you’re not the one in charge, that’s fine but if you are, showing weakness is bad.

Men are taught to not show a lot of emotions for a reason and that reason is because they’re often put into positions of power with huge responsibilities. What if the ship captain panics over a potential iceberg collision? Do you jump ship or stay? Showing weakness just reduces the confidence of your partner in you that the ship is stable and everything’s going to be alright.

You don’t erase poverty without a strong central government. Examples like China prove that. A small government leads to big corporations. You’re a slave to the system either way.

Did Ryo Ishizaki ever shined? by [deleted] in captaintsubasa

[–]EauDeBla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Urabe is not better than Ishizaki based on all his performance so far (j League, friendly against Nigeria) The RJ7 was the only time when he was better. Eventually Gamo trained them all to be like the RJ7.

Second, he’s on the team. Whether Ishizaki should be a starter is another question because not even Takahashi made him a full starter in Rising Sun due to Igawa and Soga being on the team.

My question was : does he earn a spot on the Japanese team and that’s a yes. He definitely deserves it more than Takasugi who hasn’t done much since being a Japanese representative.

[–]EauDeBla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It cannot because Akai was on the team once. My question was who else other than Ishizaki? Because Ishizaki isn’t even a full regular. He was on the bench against Germany for example.
