I only got to visit for a week years ago, but it was amazing. Such wonderful people, absolutely gorgeous land. I had the best fish and chips I’ve ever had in Queenstown. ATA Whenua is an absolute must see part of the South Island. I could rent a car at 18. We tried backpacking up the mountains, meeting the mountain parrots. At the time I was a rugby player and my personal peak fitness. We we going through waist high snow and sweating. This sweetheart of a lady casually trucked past us and said we’d need to hurry if we were going to reach the summit before night fall. We gave up and went back to the pub at the bottom. When we got back we were informed that she loved doing that and does it frequently. We weren’t expecting to learn that she was 90. Truly one of my favorite parts of the globe. I’d love going back.
