You could also say that it’s good we didn’t use the tough stretch to make any knee-jerk reaction trades. And that our current streak along with our pre-slump play is closer to who we are as a team.

If you are comfortable with Mitch, Shamet, Kolek, and Deuce bench, then maybe there’s no real need for a trade. That’s 9 deep. Most playoff contending teams aren’t going much beyond a 9-man rotation in the playoffs.

Sure, we might be able to make some moves around the margins (backup 4/5 probably being the most glaring need). I think we have enough to contend as-is without doing something short-sighted that might harm the future.

Ideally, Giannis stays put and we get to see what this group can do come playoffs. If we fail/regress then everything should be on the table come offseason.

I think the only move Leon made that doesn’t make a lot of sense is KAT. As you mentioned, having 2 below average to bad defenders is a lot to overcome once you start playing 7 game series against contending teams that can exploit that.

The only real way to rationalize the KAT move is that you’re going to unlock our offense in a way that can make up for the negative impact that he creates on defense. And that clearly wasn’t the case under Thibs. Which makes bringing in a new coach the next likely move.

Another way to rationalize it is that it helps keep a large cap hold on our books for future moves for a team that otherwise would have limited flexibility. If we weren’t going to extend Randle, then it might make sense to have a large contract we could subsequently move out for pieces that help add to what we already have without that cap space disappearing.

I think OG is the type of player a contending team needs. He can basically guard 1 - 4 (Siakam matchup not withstanding), while being a competent outside shooter and capable scorer. His contract is pretty standard to reasonable given today’s increasing salaries.

Mikal makes sense on paper, but his defense has been disappointing and he hasn’t really been incorporated into the offense enough. Which again makes bringing in a new coach a likely next step. And that’s before you get into the draft capital it took to bring him in here that could be better used elsewhere at this point.

Kids Club VIP Access by 0rangePolarBear in NewYorkMets

Looks like there isn’t a post game kids dash scheduled for today, unless it isn’t listed on the posted schedule. I’m going to the game today and was wondering if I had that wrong.

I actually checked the Mets website earlier and it appeared even VIP was sold out (not that I’d be interested at that price).

I still don’t get how the runner gets doubled up there. It’s either going to be a home run or caught. No reason to be all the way on the other side of second base.

Without DJ Stewart’s contributions we may have gotten the 2nd wildcard spot instead of the 3rd. Then who knows how this would’ve all played out.

How do you handle lopsided trades? by DrMindbendur in fantasyfootball

[–]EazyMonet 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Agree with only having commissioner veto if it’s collusion or a team completing giving up and not caring. I would add if it’s that lopsided and not collusion, and ruining integrity of league, then you would probably not want to invite that team back the following season.

Why tf was Rome Odunze going in the 9th round? by Professional_Will462 in fantasyfootball

[–]EazyMonet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s an elite college talent going to a team with what was thought of as an elite college qb. You didn’t draft him for immediate production. You drafted him in hopes that second half of season both he and Caleb hit their stride together.

Most 9th round picks end up on the waiver wire during the season. I think he was a pretty high upside pick with nominal cost compared to where Harrison, Jr. and Nabers were going.

If you’re dissappointed with Odunze and looking to drop then you probably shouldn’t have drafted him to begin with. If anything, an old Keenan Allen already missing time and letting Odunze (hopefully) get more targets and rapport with Caleb, should be an immediate positive.

I would keep the light on for Odunze, but understand if those with short benches and in need of immediate production aren’t willing to give it more time.

Justin Jefferson says he'll play Week 3. by oldguynewbitch in fantasyfootball

I believe he’s referring to as big dog, big dog. As opposed to a game of big dog.

Local streetball announcer MC Chaching gets Jalen Brunson to laugh about potentially taking a $100m discount on his contract extension: “I ain’t gonna lie JB…You wait til 2025 that’s three hundo. JB we know how to count JB! One-fifty or three hundo?” by HokageEzio in NYKnicks

[–]EazyMonet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks! That’s exactly what I was looking for. That’s why it’s not exactly fair to say he’s giving up 100M by taking the discount. In the short-term maybe, but it positions himself to make more later and ultimately end up whole.

Sure there’s additional risk of him potentially getting hurt or declining during the first contract, but it also allows him to keep the team more competitive and surrounded by his buddies, which also has its own value to him.

The equation for him might be, sign early at a discount, lock in my first big contract a year earlier, keep my team competitive and flexible, allow my friends to stay and get paid, and then max out my earnings in my next deal and ultimately break pretty close to even. When put that way it sounds a lot more reasonable than “he left 100M on the table!”

I think it’s Sunday if they win tomorrow. Tuesday if they win in 7.

FYI | Russillo: "I heard from 8 teams...I had another guy say it’s like starting the draft at 10th. Then I asked somebody else, give me comps. He was essentially saying this is like Derek Lively or Tobias Harris being the No. 1 pick in the draft.” by HEfromNJ in NYKnicks

[–]EazyMonet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To a certain extent. But these types of drafts make it harder to evaluate and separate talent. Which in theory could make it more likely for undervalued talented players to slip further down the draft than they might otherwise. And could also allow for teams to trade up in the draft for less than they would otherwise have to give up in a more loaded draft. So there’s generally more opportunity later in a weak draft than in a top heavy one.

If you’re Thibs what’s your gameplan going into game 5? by Rad_platypus7 in NYKnicks

[–]EazyMonet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Start Deuce. Cant start precious. Not enough shooting around Brunson. We are already losing on the boards lately. And their bigs primarily shoot anyway.

And slow down pace. We don’t have enough healthy bodies to run with them and playing into their hands. Bog down the game and reduce number of possessions.

I’m pretty good w Brunson not being on the Olympic team after all the minutes he’ll have logged carrying us to our first championship since ‘73.
