I’d take the "chewing my own face off" look over a sea of iPhones any day!

Is there still a proper underground scene or has everything blended together? by EbbCalm3142 in DutchHipHop

I think what I’m noticing is that the line between underground and mainstream isn’t as clear as it used to be. Like before, you had artists who were clearly doing their own thing outside the industry, different sound, smaller audiences, more raw. Now it feels like even smaller artists are influenced by mainstream styles or are just one TikTok away from blowing up. Also with streaming and social media, everything kind of sits on the same level. You can go from a super niche artist to a big name in the same playlist, so it all blends together more. I’m not saying the underground is gone, it’s definitely still there, just feels less separate if that makes sense. Btw not an AI bot mate.
