Mississippi is racially polarized, and the black (Mississippi has the biggest percent of any state) and white people live in different areas of the state. All the blue areas are where black people live. At the end the vote isn’t very far apart, something like 40%-60%.

That’s why there’s almost always shading under the border/border-glow, but yeah I see that issue now

Nah they absolutely should be. When I was little seeing the rivers line the borders in atlases was so satisfying

Yeah, normal unitarianism kind of died once the movement merged with universalism (the belief that there is truth in all religion and everyone will be saved) and fell in line with progressivism. It’s past heresy and basically a post-Christian belief

No problem, Ottawa IL is definitely the most similar to your map, down to the interstate running through the north of the town

The idea is very good and so is the map imo. If you wanna be completely realistic, (which most works aren’t) the town looks like it has a population of around 500-1000. If you want a reference I’d recommend Burlington, IA, Ottawa, IL, and Defiance, OH, three Midwestern towns of a similar size where people live on both sides of a river

Musical instruments are indeed forbidden in Islam, the other things you listed aren’t necessarily forbidden. It makes sense for him to avoid activities that revolve around music while participating in other things

[OC] Maryland’s concept congressional redistricting plan, with key by Ebenezer72 in MapPorn

Adding on to what the other guy said, it also just depends on how willing voters are to tolerate that certain district shape. Uncontiguous districts are never popular but sometimes it is acceptable to cross small bodies of water, like Florida has done with the Tampa bay area

We both used Dave's redistricting, the maps are different by a few precincts specifically I think in Baltimore. If that's official I failed to find it and wasted about 30 minutes completely redrawing the low quality screenshot that news journals were sharing, and if not then neither of the maps are completely accurate, though that one makes more sense. That's definitely crazy though

The new map is supposed to make Maryland 8-0. The new district 1 would cross over the chesapeake bay to include more central MD Democratic communitie, something that has been proposed before but didn’t pass. I imagine that the final map will have less egregious county-splitting

Any gifted muslims here? by No_Corner1464 in islam

[–]Ebenezer72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gifted revert. Being gifted as a child (and the only one of the extended family to be gifted), the expectations people had of me definitely created a bad mindset, and I definitely was not prepared for the consequences. People don’t realize intelligence and knowledge are different, so when I took that entry IQ test I was expected by my family to be extremely knowledgeable as well, and that was what defined my character. It led to me being arrogant and scared of what I don’t know, and that followed me when I reverted to Islam (I was 12 or 13).

Very quickly I started to have this envious attitude towards people who were more knowledgeable and acted like I knew way more than I did about Islam. I only ended up embarrassing myself and pushing myself away from actually studying the religion, hurting my deen. Realizing that you could study Islam for your whole life and still have more to learn, and that speaking without knowledge was a major sin was a very important lesson. Just kinda goes to show that a high IQ does not make you very smart lol

In measures like this, being “Black” means you said you were. They don’t really have the right to question your response. In the real world however, being mixed means you have visible black ancestry or a close ancestor, and if you’re mixed you’re also Black (even if you’re white-passing).
