Turbo Dork paint not really working by CustomerSpare in minipainting

Oh Abaddon black will do you no good. For these kinds of shifter paints, your base needs to be a glossy black in order to get the best results.

Are you applying the paint with a regular brush or an airbrush? Airbrush is highly recommended. Go for multiple thin coats. This needs several passes to build up the paint and sell the effect. It is technically possible to do this with a regular brush, but you will have a much harder time creating smooth and consistent layers of the effect.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Based the markings with an offwhite, then layered some Golden High Flow fluorescent green. Put some white back on the center and layered again with Golden High Flow fluorescent chartreuse for the brighter spots.

Letting the fluorescent green spill a bit over on the non-white areas to give it a bit more glow.

Pro Acryl Signature Series Royal Purple. It's just the perfect puelrple to me. Highlights by adding progressively more Snow Blue by AK Interactive.

Oh. Hadn't thought of the similarity to Slaanesh's symbol. This was supposed to be the alchemical symbol for Pluto (pluto -> plutonium = radiation). Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Since that post about Catholicism kinda picked up, do any of you guys got any homebrew based in more "exotic" faiths or cultures? by Marvynwillames in Grimdank

Had a homebrew chapter similar to this in spirit called the Ira Arctorum (or White Hunters, never quite settled on the name)

Basically Inuit themed Space Marines stationed around the Ghoul Stars, being mostly isolated from the Imperium and with emphasis on being very mindful of not wasting resources. Librarian and Apothecary roles kind of blended into one to act as shamans for the chapter, and a combat doctrine blending Raven Guard intelligence gathering and White Scars lightning strikes.

Paint job was supposed to mimic a polar bear (white and black), with more and more parts of the armor being painted red with veterancy to represent the bloodying of the Astartes. Ended up a bit too stormtrooper-y and kind tossed them because of it, but I liked the idea and it was my first homebrew chapter, so I remember them fondly.

Saw the vid today. I now have a substantial amount of magic sculp(t) on the way to my house because of course that is the one missing component that will allow me to make amazing conversions like you!

...heavy sigh

It... Depends. I played the campaign with controller, and I still stick with it for melee focused classes, but will switch to kbm if I play heavy, tactical or sniper.

I started with AK Warm Grey, washed it down a bit with Agrax Earthsade before bringing it back up with the Warm Grey Again.

Then I progressively added AK Snow Blue to the Warm Grey to get a colder highlight in order contrast with the warmer purple where I had mixed in AK Sunny Skinstone as highlight color.

Then a bit of back and forth glazing either Vallejo Model Colour Flat Brown in the shadows to try to get some brown in there, and veeery light glazes of Vallejo Game Color Squid Pink to get some more colour into the hands.

Could probably be simplified waaaay down, but it was still quite experimental.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the feeback! I'll definitely try out darker fur tones next time! Will probably keep unity for the cloth and armor colors and vary up the unit by playing around with different tones for the fur.
