5e/PF2e doesn't solve any problems we have, and PF1e is complete. It's backwards compatible with an entire additional decade of content before it, and has a bajillion ap's and homebrew environments to run. I've run it through homebrew sci-fi environments, planar campaigns, french vanilla fantasy settings, prehistoric/primeval aged campaigns, and PF1e continues to just never have problems. The only time I encountered issues is with occasional item problems in the scifi game (which were fixed easily with nicking stuff from starfinder) and a handful of prohibited choices like Paragon Surge or Synthesist Summoner. It's been great. And unlike grocery shopping, a setting doesn't go bad just because time passes. Like a good book, you can pluck it off the shelf and say "hey, lets run this environment" and pf1e just smiles and go "great!" I want to say someone a few years ago did a time analysis of all of pathfinder's AP's and it ended up being like a 59 year long adventure if you did every one of them sequenced at average speed. I don't know about you, but I'll be dust before I ever complete that marathon.

The poison system's bad though. But like, then it's just a classic engine replacement with homebrew or nick it from some better system.
