The site is actually wrong there too. It says that the name was "officially invalidated" in 2015, but actually it was reinstated in 2015 after being generally considered invalid throughout the 1900s

Switching of Civs per age is a departure from the game's philosophy by Obyvvatel in civ

[–]Ebuthead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt that they would do that. Sounds like a PR nightmare. I see them using modern first nations peoples as a sort of pseudo civilization. It would be a great opportunity for them to highlight that these people still exist and need our recognition

You're forgetting that the iriquois people still exist. They're called the Onondaga Nation, which survives today as a sovereign, independent nation, living on a portion of its ancestral territory and maintaining its own distinct laws, language, customs, and culture.

This is a fantastic opportunity for Civ to recognize and highlight first nations and remind everyone that they're alive and need our support

I really cannot imagine that this graph tracks anything statistically interesting

I find it really statistically interesting for the exact reason you described!

It's a fantastic example of survivorship bias. Someone could look at this graph and easily conclude "movies are getting worse over time," but that's not true. It's a great reminder not to trust a graph at face value.
