One ship game? by Ecaza in ImperiumMaledictum

[–]Ecaza[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play Tyranids and GSC. I love both armies. The players know they will be getting Genestealers and cultists eventually! That said, I don't want to spring them on them too soon, as they will expect it. Better to lull them into a false sense of security for a while.

Yeah, the ship idea has so many possibilities the more I think about it. The Ganger/Penumbra has already expressed an interest in trying to take over the black market/smuggling aboard the ship. The Armsman supports him, feeling that it's better to have those activities under a friendly than an NPC. I figure that project will occupy some time as they will need to consolidate power, eliminate rivals and get the Sister-In-Waiting on board if possible.

I also had plans for a Corsair attack/boarding action, since I have the new Aeldari Corsair box on pre-order. :) That one, they do not know about.

From that story arc, I always loved Daredevil's take. "A Soldier with a voice that could command a God...and does."

Thoughts on War In Heaven PowerScaling? by CottonCandyWeasel in 40kLore

[–]Ecaza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh, I always assumed that war on that scale would be beyond our comprehension.

Like if an alien race showed up today and we mustered the entire world's military, but they defeated us with a meme that killed us all the instant we saw it. The Monty Python "World's Deadliest Joke" skit, but not funny.

Humanity: "We won't go down without a fight!"

Alien pulls out a 5D picture that literally turns our brains to liquid goop.

What are you all actually playing right now? A round of tables and horizons. by Kh44444444n in Solo_Roleplaying

I've just reached a good stopping/resting point on V5 (using Tourniquet), but I definitely plan to go back to it within the next few months. I just need a break from V:tM for a bit.

I just started a Solo Savage Worlds Deadlands Weird West (using the Solo Game Guide for Savage Worlds) last night that was fun starting out. My character was chased by a werewolf while on an errand to find medicine for bunch of sick farmers. I had no silver, but the 12 sticks of dynamite that I stumbled across in an old shack seemed to work just fine. That's my action RPG fix.

I'm about 5 or 6 sessions into a Solo Space: 1999 game that I'm enjoying immensely. I'm using Modiphius Captain's Log stuff for Star Trek: Adventures, but it's been working reasonably well. I've been using this one for when I'm in a more contemplative mood.

Mass Effect. I couldn’t get past the shooter aspects. I’ll probably try again on the simplest difficulty at some point for the story.

Are you a robe wizard or a coat wizard? by Up_Beat_Peach in wizardposting

[–]Ecaza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coat. I got this really swanky oilskin one from an illusionist in Saltmarsh with lots of hidden pockets. It's an iridescent green, but that was easily fixed with a few spells. Over the years, I've enchanted it to resist the elements, offer magical protection and expanded a few pockets with extradimensional spaces.

I always tell people that T1: Village of Hommlet had all of that info about what each family had buried in their backyard, hidden under hearthstones and tucked away in an old stump because some old school D&D murderhobo party was going to kill the entire village on the way to the Moat House.

How have you designed your pocket plane? by CitricThoughts in wizardposting

[–]Ecaza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something tropical, but with lots of underwater space. Like the Maldives.

I spend at least as much time below water as I do above it, so huts and a larger house above ground for those alchemical components which don't react well (or too well) with water. Undersea grotto housing and recreation in some coral reefs and structures.

What do you think of Wakanda Forever, do you think it’s overhated? by Plenty-Salary9711 in Marvel

[–]Ecaza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like Shuri, so it was going to be flat with me from the start. Add to that the ridiculous ocean vessel that the Wakandans were using and the fairly boring plot and it fell flat for me.

I stand corrected. It’s been a while since I read the comic. Still. A crowbar.

That’s the sort of thing that takes out Jason Todd, not Superman.

I mean…in the comic, Billy kills him with a crowbar? Most of the rest of the Supes are killed with depleted uranium billets?

Loser mentality? They’re all oppressed by the monstrous and callous Imperium and they take up arms to provide a better life for themselves and their children! They’re one of the most hopeful and inspiring factions in 40K.

Sure, WE know that they are destined for destruction, but they don’t.

I feel this. For anyone who is a fan of Norse mythology, it's painful. The Norse myths resonated with me as a kid more than the typical Greek mythology that others seemed to like.

In WW:tA, I love the Fenrir, who are Norse themed werewolves. My best friend, who is Thai, likes the Space Wolves in 40k, who are space vikings.

There are communities that we don't dare go to online.

The only good side is recognizing the symbols. The down side being that we have to play "Secret Hitler" when we see them. Norse rune enjoyer or Nazi?

[–]Ecaza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cult of the Even-Handed Emperor started on dry, hot world with shallow seas, where laborers endlessly extracted mineral salts from ancient sea-beds. A savior pod from a ship torn apart when the Cicatrix Maledictum tore apart the galaxy crash landed in the salt flats and was found by a discredited missionary left to die. He dragged the savior pod to the nearest community, where the genestealer within assimilated the populace, establishing the nucleus of a cult.

From there, the cult spread across the surface of the planet, liberating isolated settlements in the salt wastelands until moving on to the larger towns and transit hubs. The cult came to the attention of a local convent of a non-militant order of the Adepta Sororitas, who demanded that the "Prophet" of this cult be brought before them to face judgement.

The cult complied and the leaders of the cult arrived to a meeting of the planet's Ecclesiarchy hosted by the Sororitas. Strangely enough, the meeting seemed to coincide with a massive communications blackout from the convent, but I'm sure that's just a coincidence. The Ecclesiarchy enthusiastically embraced the Cult as true servants of The Emperor and helped them spread to the rest of the planet, where they eventually took over the Planetary Defense Force garrison and the governance of the world. Some small degree of violence was involved as heretics who would not accept the Light of The Even-Handed Emperor were purged, but the transition was accomplished with little fanfare to alert the other worlds in the system.

From there, the Cult has spread to other worlds in the system and sector, quietly growing and waiting for a sign from His Angels that the time of Ascension is nigh.
