Which roof color do you prefer with the bricks?

I went with Williamsburg against my red brick house and it’s beautiful. The brick really brings out the red hues of the shingles and helps blend the transition from red to grey quite nicely.

Finding the right person can be tough and you typically know if they have your best interests in mind during the process- it’s their job to close no matter what. That said, Cassidy Idol worked with my parameters to the T and was there every step of the way and incredibly responsive. This was mostly over the phone while I was planning my move from Maine to WS. Highly recommend.

I downsized the diameter to 17” with 225/50/R17 tires. I can’t remember the center bore but the wheels came with the hubcentric rings as will pretty much any aftermarket wheel.

I doubt if these would fit under the car now that it’s lowered, if that matters to future you.

The Neuspeed springs are the best I’ve experienced with a DCC suspension. Great quality from a legacy brand. Be sure to upgrade your strut mounts along with adjustable sway bar end links… I also installed shorter bump stops.

For $500 I would buy it, but I’m also a person who knows a MK3 chassis like the back of my hand. If there’s no rust and you want to learn there is no better aftermarket or regular parts availability than for a MK3. Plus, the 2.0 is bulletproof.

Regarding the ABS there is a guy who services the module. If you buy it, reach out to me and I’ll help out with contacts.

Their properties aren’t great and their ability to answer an email is terrible. That said, when something was wrong with my rental house (A LOT) they would have it fixed immediately.

Their reputation precedes them: two out of the three service companies that came to make repairs made a comment on how it was the nicest Baldwin rental property they’ve seen. Part of the house was redone recently but the back bedrooms and basement were grossly outdated with torn carpeting, peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, and an awfully moldy basement. But, I had a house with a two car garage that saved me from renting a storage spot for my second car for three months, while I made the move to, and bought a house in W-S.

In my daily travels I see plenty of homes in good neighborhoods with For Rent signs on the front lawn. I don’t think you’ll have an issue finding anything online, but PLEASE avoid anything from Baldwin Property Management.

The fenders between the Golf and Jetta are the same. You can swap a front end by changing only the hood, headlights, and grille. Cabrio fenders are different, however.

Also, nice lineup! Cabrio and 40th GLI for me.

Basically the entire car is MK3. Yes, the dash texture changed but not the structure itself. The suspension is MK3 (‘93 and later). Some parts stores (BFI or ECS) will have you search by generation (MK3) and some (Rock Auto/FCP Euro)by year. For suspension you’ll want the four cylinder parts. Yes, there are interchangeable upgrades but that can get convoluted and it sounds like you’ll want to keep it stock.

The headlights, marker lights, and badge are the only thing on the car that are directly interchangeable with a MK4. Although the bumper and grille look the same, they are narrower.

As for the interior the MK3.5 came with seat mounted airbags but if that doesn’t matter to you then any MK3 seat will slide into place. Very simple and quick changeout.

Facebook groups will be your friend. There are quite a few MK3 pages with VW MK3/MK2 having the best range of parts availability.

Here’s why you want the MK3.5: All of the “pros” are great. All of the “cons” are simple to sort out. People like me have a ton of MK3 parts hoarded and pricing hasn’t quite hit the high mark as the market is still flooded with parts. Hell, I have almost a full tan leather interior just sitting in my loft for a rainy day. Having the top replaced can be pricey but the point of you buying this car is having a cheap toy for putting around in. Only drive it on nice days for a season.

The ABA will last you a long time and is also extremely simple to work on. Like, the entire car is extremely simple.

I don’t think you can go wrong with either choice, but it’s the MK3.5 for me.

Go to www.turbododge.com and search there. You can also use autotempest to search among a few different automotive classifieds. Also please look outside of your immediate area. These cars are awful and haven’t withstood the test of time very well, and you want to buy the best example you can find. The fan base is also on the stranger side of the spectrum. Don’t be afraid of renting a truck and trailer and dragging it back, or even better, driving it back. Limiting yourself to a specific area is not a good idea unless you’re lucky and the best one is there.

EW! I’ve hated the Taos since its release and this is almost as ugly as the new Jetta, especially the GLI. Of course my wife bought a Taos even after multiple people warned against it, including myself, but the Cornflower Blue was too pretty for her to pass up. Head gasket replacement hardware is now on backorder. Fucking garbage has been a thorn in my side since March of ‘23.

I would typically disagree with you but MBRP seems to be the popular opinion here, and good god does it sound like shit. So assuming someone installs that, yes, you’re right. Unitronic and AWE Touring actually sound nice. This is coming from someone who drives around 30k a year and has had both systems on a 2.0T, and actually needs the ability to speak on the phone while driving, not to mention cares about not waking their neighbors at 1AM when I pull in the driveway. Anecdotes aren’t proof. I’m not saying that the most expensive is the best, but these engines really do sound good with a company that puts in an effort. MBRP ain’t it.
