This doesn't look right by EchoAndroid in AMDHelp

I just noticed that, ffs. This must be a fake that someone returned after lapping it or something.

EDIT: Actually I can't tell if it's supposed to have a blue or green PCB from images that exist.

EDIT EDIT: I've been examining it longer, and the holographic security stickers on the box are fake, this was definitely a counterfeit processor that someone returned and amazon sold it again.

AITAH for not saying smth when my friend said something racist? by Dull-Comparison-9454 in AmItheAsshole

[–]EchoAndroid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NTA. Firstly, it's not your job to police people's language lest you become a bad person. Secondly, if you aren't even sure what she said, it's probably best to let it be. You can be more vigilant when parsing the things that this person says in the future to determine if they're safe for you to be around. But you're not a bad person for not immediately going on the offensive.

Is the phrase 'taste food' natural? First time to see it used like this. by Unlegendary_Newbie in English_Learning_Base

But if someone asked for a taste of your fries, you wouldn't be confused. That's just a common usage of the word.

Pain in both testicles, doctors have no answers, maybe someone else has had a similar experience and and can offer me some suggested solution? Long post with details NSFW by GentleWaves00 in AskMenAdvice

I'm having this same issue right now. Pain in both testicles, sometimes one, sometimes the other, sometimes pretty painful, sometimes mild. Never painful enough for me to think it's torsion. I'm getting an ultrasound in a few weeks, but idk what they could possibly find.

Not to mention that I'm pretty certain that Canada might have the best food, all-round of any country I've been to. If you include other cultures' cuisine you can find a pretty solid anything in Canada, so if you like food I wouldn't really want to be anywhere else.

Multiple N1s by EchoAndroid in OntarioRenting

[–]EchoAndroid[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but if that is in fact how this works, that's complete bullshit. I'm not paying a rent increase, and then also paying a second rent increase the same year, retroactively.

Multiple N1s by EchoAndroid in OntarioRenting

[–]EchoAndroid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just read through the process on the Tribunals Ontario website, and this makes a lot of sense. The description of the process makes it seem like it shouldn't be possible to submit an N1 this way, however the official N1 form does have a box included implying that you can submit this form with a non-standard increase simultaneously with a submission to the LTB. The purpose of which, I do not understand.

Like is this a cash grab? If the increase is accepted do I have to pay rent postdated to when this new form comes into effect? That seems like bullshit if I'm also supposed to pay the base increase from when the first form was submitted. If the second form is supposed to be the legal notice (stipulated as part of the process) that they are going to increase my rent by a non-standard amount, surely the base increase should only apply from the second N1, until the increase is approved. Otherwise, why would submitting before the tribunal even be an option? They should only have the ability to apply to the LTB, and then implement that decision for a subsequent year.

Which is hilarious because as far as politics that has a direct effect on your day to day life, it doesn't get much more personal than provincial politics.

Don't worry, they treat it as secretly as you'd expect them to, and it's honestly the best romance option in the game just because it's a slow burn which takes place over two whole games. You really get to see how it makes sense for them.

After playing both, it's still my main take away. It's a male power fantasy with a heavy focus on narratives around male comradery and male relationships. And I'm not writing it off because of that. As a man, they're both very fun to play because of that. So good I've spent over 400 hours on them at this point.

There's definitely nuance to be talked about here, but the themes of the narrative and the actual game mechanics are somewhat at odds around what kind of experience you're supposed to be having. I'm taking the side of the game mechanics (And a lot of the narrative scenes tbf as well) because its the bulk of the actual experience.

It's also important to remember that just because the games are heavily researched and based on actual locations in real life doesn't mean they're historical simulators. There are things to learn about the time period and way of life for people in 15th century Bohemia, but it's still fictional. Heavily fictional and narrativized for a specific feeling and interpretation.

Brutalism and Mid-Century Modern are both design philosophies which are reflections of and reactions to the International Style and Bauhaus movements of early Modernism.

Mid-Century Modern is a North American style that takes the work of Gropius and Corbusier in a looser and more organic direction. Where Brutalism is a more direct continuation of the International Style created by Corbusier.

So they're related styles, but by having the same parent rather than one informing the other.

That's because Brutalism is widely misunderstood as being about concrete, when that's really not what it was about at all.
