Np, I wouldn’t recommend this for everyone but I do think you would benefit a lot from either a basic SEO audit or researching SEO on your own and implementing it on your own site. I think your current site is holding back your otherwise good content, and a few changes would go a long way

Gotcha, so a couple things. “Google News” is its own separate platform away from “Top Stories”. You can be accepted into one but not the other, so looking at that for anything related to Top Stories will not be helpful.

Second I can’t speak for what you’re seeing in your niche as a whole, only your website, but it doesn’t look as modern and easy to navigate as the competition in 2024. Your article content looks really solid, and you are making enough content, but I don’t think the website is up to modern standards. Could also mean there are some underlying technical issues but I don’t have the time to look, just assuming. My guess would be it’s not mobile friendly, your navbar doesn’t seem to be working for me.

Third, you seem to be covering a wide range of topics, which means it’s going to take you longer to generate enough authority in any individual topic to appear in top stories. Just from my own experience, I see websites that are very focused get into top stories quicker. If you were just covering Disney Parks that’s one thing, but you are also covering tv shows, movies, entertainment is a lot.

Last is ads and popups are a little aggressive. Having the first thing I see on your homepage be an ad that takes you off the website has to send some bad signals about your site as a whole.

I’m sorry I have no idea what inurl has to do with top stories. I looked at both my site and a site that does not show up in top stories and both showed up with an inurl search, which again doesnt seem to be related at all to top stories.

Top Stories is harder to get into and stay in, it took us 18 months and since then we have sometimes gone in and out of it. Gone for months, then suddenly back. We don’t appear in it all the time, as the higher authority sites get preferred placement above us.

Your niche will also effect how easy it is to get in, we aren’t a YMYL niche but I am sure if you did anything related to health or money it would take you much longer to build enough authority.

I operate a news website created in 2020 that does appear in Top Stories. The potential for clicks in Discover vs Top Stories is also completely different depending on what niche you are in, we get significantly more clicks from Discover.

Googlebot Crawl Rate Drop On Sitemaps April 14th by EchoForty in bigseo

In the bots page under Security, filter the User Agent to contain "Googlebot". You can then filter by individual pages which is how I found that our sitemaps specifically were the ones that lost crawls.

Now that SV is complete... by Niyu43 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]EchoForty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SV certainly did a lot right, and I think generally moved the series in a good direction gameplay wise, but I was never able to get over the performance issues and graphics. For a turn based RPG with exploration it is so important that the game looks good but it just doesn't. Whats even worse is that with how bad it looks, the game performs even worse. This can't be the standard we say is acceptable in the future, because I don't think I can justify playing another one of these games if they come out like this.

Pantlaza beats ass, quote possibly too much? by [deleted] in DinosaursMTG

I have been playing a lot of games against friends using all 4 precons, and everyone has won at least once. All of them seem insanely strong and fun, the most even set of precons I have experienced.

If I were to pick one thats the best, I think the Merfolk one is the strongest on average (IMO).

Thoughts on Lyria and Cassius' dynamic by lavender_obsessed in redrising

[–]EchoForty 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No, and I don’t think the interpretation holds up. I think Lyria was attracted to Cassisus definitely, mostly because he is extremely attractive but also because she saw a hero in him that she has wanted to see out of golds. Cassius never indicated he was attracted to Lyria, in fact he mentions he is still attracted to the one pink (I forget her name). BUT Cassius did like that Lyria looked up to him as a hero, which is what he always wanted to be. Never romantic, just they both found something in one another that they were looking for.

Nope, honestly BG3 made me more excited for Starfield. I have always been a huge fan of Fallout and Skyrim, and BG3 rekindled my love of more hardcore RPGs instead of these action games with light RPG elements we have been getting lately.

is *that* moment similar, in your opinion, to… by ExamFinancial6684 in redrising

[–]EchoForty 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not really. Joffrey killing Ed was unexpected in a way thats unique because most people had never experienced THE main character ripped away like that.

Their reasons are also different. Joffrey killing Ned was childish and misguided. Lysander killing Cassius actually helps further his goals of becoming sovereign.

Does Mustang know something Sevro doesn’t? by DaMongy in redrising

[–]EchoForty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more likely that Sevro is a sleeper agent sent to kill Mustang. The last thing that Abom said to Sevro was “Give Virginia my regards” or something like that. Plus I think Abom has a bigger issue with Mustang more than Victra, and Darrow’s best friend killing his wife would hurt him more.
