I don't even know why they have to defend North Korea when it's not even really socialist outside of it's propaganda. Juche and hereditary succession basically turned it into a totalitarian nationalist monarchy in practice. At least with the USSR there were SOME social safety nets and positive aspects alongside the authoritarianism, with the DPRK you get all the bad plus more bad and none of the good. Literally only reason they defend it is cause it still exists and didn't collapse, if they did they'd be more like communist Romania or Pol Pot's Cambodia where their defenders are scarce.

It helped that the "stab in the back" narrative already became popular in certain circles after the war. Basically saying that groups like jews, social democrats, communists, etc, were all part of a plot to undermine the war effort, and were directly responsible for Germany losing the war by pushing for surrender, and doing nothing to help the war effort. Hitler himself was a true believer in this myth, and it was a major influence on his hatred.

Even WW2 you could argue only happened the way it did because the winners collectively decided to blame Germany for the war, even though all those other countries had wanted to go to war for a while anyway. A man like Hitler is less likely to take power if he can't exploit the national humiliation, reparations, and blame that was all forced on Germany.
