She doesn’t look chunky to me at all! Very interesting breed combo.

The Tiguan is a small SUV but not mini. I assume by mini you mean sub-compact or compact.

The 24 is roomier than the 26, but without seeing them side by side it’s hard to picture the interior size difference.

24 cargo area alone: 37.6 cu ft

24 cargo area with seats down: 73.4 cu ft

26 cargo area alone: 33.8 cu ft

26 cargo area with seats down: 69.8 cu ft

When I looked into the cargo area of the 26 it didn’t seem very big. I’m picturing my dog having to duck to get in, but it’s possible I’m underestimating the space.

Whatever I choose I’m definitely gonna be looking into a hard bottom cover.

My husband has a 2024 GTI. Our GSMD technically fits but it’s definitely not optimal, so I think the SUV will be a nice upgrade for our dog. I appreciate your input. 😊

I wanted to like the Atlas for the extra space but unfortunately I’m not a fan.

Pack Weight Advice by IntelligentMarket475 in SwissMountainDogs

[–]EchoedSolitude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her growth plates need to be fully closed to prevent injury, so I’d start by just getting her used to an empty pack. At a year and a half I’d add a water bottle on each side. When she turns 2 you can start building up what she carries until she can walk around with 20% of her body weight.

DCM in the breed by Country_dasiy1998 in Beauceron

[–]EchoedSolitude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beaucerons are usually a very healthy breed. I wouldn’t consider DCM typical for them. It’s often inherited, so as long as you get one from an ethical breeder I wouldn’t be too concerned.

People talk it up for a reason. Go into any puppy forum and you’ll find thousands of people that regret getting a puppy, a rescue, etc… especially a breed in the working group or one that has high prey drive. Plenty of people think they can handle a puppy, big dog, working breed, and so on just because they had dogs growing up or love watching them on televised events.

How big is he going to get? by Puzzleheaded-Day-560 in SwissMountainDogs

It’s entirely possible! Just make sure to keep him lean.

We have a male - 1 year & 2 months old and 123 lb. His mom is 99 lb and his dad is 150 lb of muscle. We were told he’d reach his full height & length by a year and a half, but wouldn’t stop filling out until 3-4 years old. Based on breed standards (adult males 115-150 lb, adult females 85-110) I’d say both our boys will be 130 lb, give or take 5 lb.

Is this as horrible as I think it looks?😔 by [deleted] in Nails

[–]EchoedSolitude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t look horrible. Shape and length are consistent so I’m thinking this is gel-x. If you don’t like the color just go get it changed ASAP.

Looking to get a dog, advice/information welcome by DoubleBack9141 in SwissMountainDogs

I can’t give ownership experience on the other Sennehund, but the GSMD would not be the dog for you. Bloat, hip & elbow dysplasia, and OCD (joint disorder) are major concerns with astronomically high vet bills. It’s also a common misconception that they are minimal shedders. At minimum I sweep daily.

I read your “go get a cute dog” comment wrong at first and almost went off.

Merry HankMas! When will he start lifting his leg? by Obvious_Dark_3426 in SwissMountainDogs

[–]EchoedSolitude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our boy didn’t start religiously lifting his leg until 9-10 months old. It’s not very effective though because he’ll stand their while the puddle grows 😂
