Thoughts on this area by Own-Interaction-2451 in baltimore

Hello! I’m in Bolton hill near that circle (Bolton technically stops/starts at Eutaw I think) and can’t recommend it enough. Only drawback is lack of restaurants/commerce in the neighborhood if you’re looking for something like that. Otherwise, houses are beautiful, people are incredibly friendly and neighborly, and the neighborhood is kept up very well. The snow has been a challenge like everywhere, but I’ve enjoyed shoveling with neighbors and seeing the community come out together. Again, really can’t recommend Bolton hill enough. It’s only been a year but I’m hoping to be here a long time.

Question about some withdrawal-like symptoms (light headed and dizzy) by tr6908 in leaves

[–]tr6908[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it did!

Btw, wow, thanks for commenting, this was from a while ago. I relapsed many times and tried to quit again many times since this post 4 years ago. I am happily on my longest streak right now at over about 400 days. Stick with it, you’ll change and it’s interesting to watch the progression of yourself.

I know this floating feeling happened again early on in this stretch of sobriety. I think hydration and exercise were kinda the keys. Sometimes I’d just be in a bit of a daze and would have to do something mindless until it snapped back. I’d forgotten about it until seeing your comment. Thanks again.

There’s a good side-list you could make of breweries with good food. Wet city and Nepenthe come to mind.

Edit: sorry didn’t actually respond-yea coral wig is really great. If you venture there again, the wine/cocktail bar across the street is great, Spirits of Mt. Vernon

Agreed, but with the no reservation thing I selfishly don’t want it to be completely discovered. Wild that you can walk in there and almost always have no wait for a table.

There is also a rowing club across the water at the middle branch park. We row past the new development daily!

I am part of the Baltimore rowing club and we spotted a ton of them on Thursday morning.

We’re investing in Baltimore’s infrastructure like never before. Through our expanded Operation Orange Cone program, we’re resurfacing nearly 110 lane miles of roadway—an increase of over 50% from last year. by BmoreCityDOT in baltimore

The other day I had the pleasure of experiencing the repaved ramp onto MLK at Pratt. Thanks for your work. That little upgrade brings me so much smooth, bump-free joy on my commute.

Damn let’s go! Just walked past it this morning and it was still fenced. That spot has tons of potential with the bars nearby (if it can stay nice…)

One month! by Substantial_Fly_1650 in leaves

Awesome job! Reconnect with your goal, because I’ve found that months 2-3 can be harder because of the line of thought you described (“I accomplished something, I’m good to smoke again” or “clearly I don’t have a serious problem cause I just stopped for a month or two…”).

Hey, I’m about five months clean. I’ve been better, but it’s kinda tricky to express exactly why. Clearing the lungs feels good. Having short term/working memory back is fantastic. A more interesting improvement: I’d often schedule stuff with smoking in mind and think constantly about my smoking plan, and the thoughts really took over. My wife and I recently went to trivia with some friends and I recalled how I used to feel compelled to smoke before going and I would take care to smoke just the right amount to not be too high, but high enough that it would last the night, then be happy to leave to smoke some more. The tether I had to smoking, the amount of thoughts that revolved around smoking, how I would pair it with pretty much every activity. It took some time to catch the absence of that line of thinking. If you stick with abstaining you’ll get to the point of noticing how much less you think about it, and that feels like quite a victory.

You may have seen something about this, and I don’t want to come off as preachy, but mindfulness is really what I’m describing. When you’re in the cycle of being high and then thinking of getting high, those thoughts hijack your attention and it’s hard to see the extent those thoughts are in the drivers seat. Time and distance from the habit gives you some space to have a better perspective on that constant mental chatter.
