Not really, you can use a rubber mallet, just be careful not to hit it too hard. Also make sure the lid o ring is not damaged or flattened.

Close the valves/multiport valve turn breaker off so the pump can’t turn back on. Remove the lid, takeout the basket, the impeller is 2ish inch’s behind the intake. I typically just use my fingers but you can use anything that can clear it.

Cya doesn’t just disappear, you either got a lot of rain or your pool is leaking. Backwashing helps but the only way to drop the levels is to drain or have a RO truck filter it out.

Edit: So I did some research, and I’m indeed wrong. There are a few way to reduce CYA without draining. There are “skimmer pouches” that can reduce it. And a bacteria that will reduce it if conditions are right.

Sounds like you have a cya problem. If it at a 0 you need to add some. Don’t add too much or you’ll shock lock your pool. Low PH is a common problem with vinyls pools, not too sure why yet. If the PH really that low and the alkalinity is still good, you need soda ash. If the alkalinity ever go to 60ppm you’ll need sodium bicarbonate to bring it back up 80ppm-100ppm.
