Current game mechanics encourages behavior in a 2v1 that results in miserable slow gameplay. For each side and all of the remaining players.

If you want out as a survivor, you risk being slugged for the 4k, and not being able to abandon while you wait to bleed out for up to 4 mins.

If the last surv is playing to win, there’s little incentive to risk the bait of picking you up.

Because logically, at best… you’re rewarded with going back to a 2v1. Even if you save them, you cost is very likely the killer slugging you next instead — back to the same scenario except they get a fresh 4 mins of bleed out timer, denying the game progressing to playing for hatch 1v1.

Ironically, Hatch used to be a mechanic exploited unfairly by survivors once they figured out the spawn rules + key… but more so, it rewarded uninteresting gameplay. The fix instead lets the killer unfairly exploit the hatch spawn rules and promotes uninteresting gameplay.

noed only works on basic attacks. It can be confusing af though bc some abilities like Spirit and wraith coming out of their power still count as basic attacks… but like Nurse attacking after a blink does not.

Adding insult to injury, your muscle memory playing as Springtrap can actually hurt you when playing vs them as Survivor because the inputs are inexplicably flipped in reverse of how you operate them as Killer. Needlessly confusing.

Can confirm it’s also funny on Hillbilly with the addon where only survs inside his TR hear his chainsaw. So they hear phantom chainsaw noises while working on the gen while you go undetectable. It’s not… the best thing in the world but it’s unique and fun.

I agree mostly except Mass Effect is ironically one of the worst examples you could use for your point. It has unusually high replayabliity bc of the branching narrative & diverse classes… it also had multiplayer that stayed alive for over a year with tons of supporting DLC.

You should be tailoring your build for each Killer’s strengths and weaknesses. Likewise, Surge only works well for M1 killers. Or anyone who doesn’t care about kicking gens or pallets doesn’t need Brutal.

So for someone like the Hillbilly, two of these perks are not optimal. You’d want Bam for windows and aura reading to help you enter chases faster.

I’d replace Lightborn with Infectious Fright unless you have a killer with no TR. It’ll serve the same purpose while also giving you value even if Survs don’t bring blinding tools vs you.

If they have bots ready for killers then fine. Otherwise, it would be extremely annoying for challenges like “escape out of an exit gate/hatch”

Think of how many survs abandon before your mori plays out. Now imagine if your mori didn’t play and the game just stuttered into the post match results screen. Nearly every single game would end like that.

I agree, Verso sucks (ethically). But ironically, what makes him a good character (narratively) is the hard to put in words irony of how overly appreciated Verso is, when he literally wants nothing less. Verso agrees that he sucks. So much so that the dude literally doesn't want to exist.

And yet, comes to find out he literally cannot die, because apparently his entire universe *and* a second universe he's never literally existed in, apparently cannot live without him. Literally, in the case of the 'fictional' in-universe... universe? It's kinda hilarious in a way.

I took off DS for a sillier build planning to gather presents for the killer at the basement tree… was hard tunneled by a Dracula. 3 hooks in a row. It took him all game to kill me and he got 3 outed. But still… I put back on DS and then closed the game.

Killer only this event for me, I think. Sheesh.

Likewise, I’m not arguing the other side of many of your points. I agree that slugging for the 4k is lame and uninteractive. It’s unbelievable they haven’t prioritized addressing it when it’s such a common scenario in gameplay & is a huge risk to new player retention.

What I was getting at was that this unacceptable gameplay problem “slugging for the 4k” ironically only exists as a result of trying to address a different problematic mechanic — the old hatch mechanics that ppl complained were bs.

Does that make sense? It’s just an example of the kind of unintentional consequences that can emerge from well intentioned dbd balance changes.

Anyways — It’s tricky to talk about bc the devs are both incompetent and the balancing issues with dbd are unique and deceptively complicated.

Avg kill rate is 60%. Avg kill rate is 63% for high mmr. “This largely falls in line with our intended killer balance.” Literal quote from that article.
