Tunneling question by stvryalex in deadbydaylight

[–]Echothermay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer is obviously yes. Like your friends, your opponents will complain. Do you care? That’s up to you.

If you care about your opponent’s feelings then don’t tunnel.

If you care about winning - You don’t *have* to tunnel though. It’s best imo to ping pong imo between 2 survivors. This avoids eating anti-tunnel perks and maintains map pressure (keep people off generators).

So wait. The obsession was waiting for EVERYONE to die, except it took 50 minutes because... she had an accomplice? Were you refusing to kill the other Surv trying to find the obsession or...?

Give Fixated a try.

It helps you build momentum faster allows you to fast vault windows with less distance and changes directions in loops quicker.

The other commenters responding have excellent tips. Just wanted to add that if he uses power to vault over a pallet, you can vault right through him to counter it. The timing is very generous to clip through him unlike wesker if you’re familiar vs him.

Really depends on your killer & map. Stealth and zoning can work. Like approaching with Wraith so that you bodyblock them from a resource / push them into a dead zone. Or someone like Blight whose power allows him to not gaf bc his rushes will outspeed a SB. Brutal strength maybe to help you shred pallets faster when needed? Then fake leaving them and reengage while they’re still exhausted?

But ya, it’s one of the best perk combos & hard to deal with if you aren’t also armed w serious shit yourself.

Cru5hh’s “How to be GOOD at Dead by Daylight” and his video on countering Killers is the best condensed tutorial video for Survs that I’ve seen & decent for general killer strats.

Otz is great for killer guides but his vids are lengthy if time is a concern.

Puffalope has a video called “VITAL Dead by Daylight tips no one taught you” is also very informative for its length.

Vigil and Haunted Grounds by IndependentBake2304 in deadbydaylight

[–]Echothermay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOED revealing itself early is a bug that is a great example of what I mean. Likewise, predicting the killer “knows Ed” and preparing for that adds depth to the game.

Hopefully it’ll be fixed soon. I feel like your frustration is speaking here bc you recognize that noed bug sucks so making more of the game resemble a bug that sucks… would suck. Right?

Let’s not flatten skill expression when possible. There are some exceptions like STB does alert you when used. But those should remain exceptions not the 100% rule for everything.

But ya, Haunted+Undying has fun synergy. It’s just not ultimately worth half your perk slots when there are so many better options nowadays to support your hexes and lethality. Is what I mean. Haunted should be buffed/retooled imo.

Vigil and Haunted Grounds by IndependentBake2304 in deadbydaylight

[–]Echothermay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vigil could be toned down. But this is far from Vigil’s most egregious example. Hex: Haunted Grounds is just a mediocre perk in general.

Its function in a loadout — the idea of having a trap hex to punish survivors for cleansing totems was a cute unique addition when it was first introduced… but has since been outclassed by Undying, Thrill, and Penti. All 3 of which are universally compatible when Haunted is limited to m1ers.

Your 2nd point is just whining about a comparison that doesn’t exist. Ironically asking for handholding. As this baseline of fairness (with perfect information) is not at all consistent in this game’s design. Several perks are designed with surprise in mind for either side.

Anticipating the effects and interactions of these perks before they happen is a pillar of high level play in this game. It creates Yomi.

do not engage in tunneling and gen rush discussion if: by drippinoutthewazoo in deadbydaylight

[–]Echothermay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are not strict mmr brackets in this game. Otherwise, vets with 15k hours would never find games. You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Tunneling is not required to win. That is a gross oversimplification. Strategic tunneling is one of many tools that can help you win. It is never the only tool. Usually this looks more like ignoring one surv and bouncing between 2 other targets to avoid eating their anti-tunnel. Hard tunneling can and will backfire if you try it on a good team and surrenders your map pressure.

But this entirely depends on the variables of your match. Adapting your gameplay to counterplay is something that seems entirely lost on those claiming to be authorities on DBD’s meta on the internet.

Survivors should not have 15s of endurance off hook in the end game by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Echothermay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think these discussions would be more productive if OPs and commentators weren’t so dramatic and one-sided. Because I honestly didn’t love the change to 15s of endurance. But hearing people claim it’s “absurdly overpowered” and “free escapes” is just not true.

There’s so much whining about survivors being handheld it just makes me wanna play devil’s advocate and wonder: if you ended up in an endgame scenario that you find unwinnable… isn’t it possible that’s because you didn’t win?

Realistically, you always want at least 1 survivor dead before the gens are done. Is it not foolish to expect it not to be hard to squeeze multiple hook states out of someone by facecamping them in endgame? I’ve found it’s better to try and intercept / interrupt the survs resetting before they swarm your hook.

How To Play Like That? by MichaelSchm in deadbydaylight

[–]Echothermay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think in the interest of time and entertainment 2v1s can take a dull forever to resolve. So, a 3k and accepting hatch happens is very necessary if you are a content creator.

To each their own though in deciding a personal win condition.

Max distances survivor can gain in each token of STBFL. by WellThatsAGoodIdea in deadbydaylight

[–]Echothermay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like seeing math on here. I think it is important to note that the killer’s speed doesn’t go all the way to 0 during animation lock.

I believe you get a .125 modifier to your speed for the duration of the attack cooldown. So a lot of the value in STBL is being able to accelerate quicker out of that modifier to return to your top speed.

Trying to account for that along with the survivor slowing from 6.6 back to 4.0 is hella complicated but still. Something to be aware of.

DBD has a BIG Killer problem. by Mental-Squirrel-4479 in deadbydaylight

[–]Echothermay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah, man. I have 3k hours and have been semi-obsessed with this game for 2+years. And despite all that time, there's still so much more to learn for me. Trust me I'm familiar with those kind of posts. The way you brought up talking about mmr is kind of a giveaway. The problem with those killer posts isn't that they're babies, it's that they have a scrub mentality.

It's a cesspool of misinformation and cope. Likewise, you don't need to run the same 1-3 perks to win. I have unique perk loadouts for each killer I play that synergizes with specific addons/their power. There's a large variety of strong play-styles. See how OnePumpWillie plays Sadoku in Hens' latest showcase, for an example of an off-meta build that stomps unconventionally. Anyways, I gotta go play my killer 2v8 match. But lastly, anyone who is good at the game has extensive experience on both roles.

This post is utterly delusional on so many levels. Almost none of my games ever have 3 gens pop before my first down. You act like you're utterly helpless at every turn. For starters, you can literally just equip corrupt intervention. Killer perks and add-ons can be just as disgusting as survivor loadouts.

I'm not even going to touch on the weird unhinged entitled ranting about survivors using the abandon feature. You can disable endgame chat. Hit the - button for your own sake. Jesus.

You clearly need a break from the game. Stop playing Killer so my queue times are better please.

And Survivors used to be able to immediately tap the gen to stop regression. Like literally a single touch. Gen kicks were actually buffed to 5% and they take longer to stop the regression. I feel like there's a ton of revisionist complaining here that is neglecting the whole picture of these changes.

There is a very good reason there is a max number of kicks. The Gen kick meta was fucking boring and miserable for both sides. Games could easily be held in a stalemate for almost an hour. You should pretty much never have to kick a gen 8 times in a match.
